This is where I'm at so far. I'm going I different direction than most. I'll run the pipe up to the top of the roll cage. I value my bed space so I'll go up in the cab

Take a cotton swab, spray some wd40 or any light oil on it, then wipe it around the inside of the intake track before putting the NEW filter on. See if there is any dust. If you find some, there is already damage to that engine. Mine had some... and I was on a second new factory filter. I replaced the first one after 50 miles cause it looked so bad. I have tested it with the TwinAir only, nothing- clean as it can be. Now that I have it and the Uni/or second filter like Jogon30...and a few of the rest of us..I don't bother checking anymore.

I have never actually seen the twin Air WITH the prefilter everyone recommends. Would one of you post a pic of that setup please.

Although there is a foam prefilter for the TwinAir, That's not what we are talking about. Some of us use either a TwinAir or a Unifilter in the airbox plus we have ported the intake to the outside and put another filter on that. I, Jogon30 and Revolutionary are using these 6" mushroom filter with 3" intakes and either Unifilter two stage foam filter media or the foam filter that comes with it..oiled as the one in the box is. Double protection. We then place a water repellant prefilter over that to keep the big stuff and water away. I have a How To on it.

Uni filter is on its way.  I didn't have any crud in the intake tunes, thanks goodness, and the in cab snorkel is almost done. I'll post pics when I have it finished.

I see, I thought there was a prefilter cover for either the UNI or Twin Air Filter that went over the foam filter inside the box.

I have a question....If i understand correctly the air intake breathes air from inside the cab behind that vent in between the seats. Have any of you just tried a UNI or Twin Air filter, then installed foam filter material over the original vent in between the seats?

Just a side note....I have had cleaner filters in the past on various machines running one of those rain repellent prefilters over a foam filter. Since they are dry, and not oiled they help keep dirt from clinging to the oiled filter protected by it.

I ran just the TwinAir in the box for a short time but the intake is slammed with so much dust and dirt from the tires it got dirty way to fast. The intake opening is less then 2" and they do put a prefilter sock over it at the factory but it isn't enough...and the volume of air being pulled in some are finding that prefilter sucked in to the hole...bad design...and it also gets all the hot air from the engine right there too...so it needs to be...well at least somewhere else. I first opened a port to the outside to get cooler and less dirt concentration but I soon wanted extra protection...so I came up with the one I did.

There is a prefilter sock that slips over the twinAir but reports say it makes it more restrictive so I didn't want to add any more...issues.

My first photo on this thread was the result of one day on the trail with a pre-filter on the stock intake tube. I had purchased a sheet of uni filter foam for another bike. I wrapped the filter material around the tube and zip-tied it in place. Like stated earlier, they are bombarded with heat a dust from the wheels. I decided to do a nontraditional snorkel into the cab.

Thinking about the whole snorkel thing, seeing so many versions. RZRs have three snorkels, I've seen a video on "how to" snorkel a RZR, saying not only snorkels but you have to do the vents too.... Transmission, front differential, rear differential, gas tank. Even went as far as pulling the clutches and sealing the bolts and waterproofing the clutch housing with grease. I've seen others on here with multiple snorkels and a vent (something about the vent smoking) I know these aren't RZRs but is there a definitive on what NEEDS done or is the one snorkel enough?

Well in all cases the engine air intake as well as the CVT's intake and exhaust. Both the diff and gear case vents. Some other considerations would be electrical connections, fuel tank vent, airbox cover seal..as we know they leak, throttle body's cable assembly...etc.
