Zforce 800 trail throttle
« on: October 26, 2020, 03:36:12 PM »
So I’m obviously new to the forum and have some questions. Does anyone else feel like the throttle on these things is way to easy to push?  What have you guys done to stiffen this up some. I find in the rough stuff I’m holding my foot up to not gas it to much and after awhile my leg and foot are tired. I’m looking into maybe adding a spring around the cable where it comes thru but wanted to see what if anything everyone here is doing. Thanks

You aren't the first. They all are that way and yes, people have a fix. Just increase the peddles return spring tension. I did mine long ago and no more fatigue. I also changed the angle of the peddle which even helped more. Check out the How Tos. I think its all in there.

I don't see the one for the peddle return spring but just take a look and you can figure out how to give it another wrap. It not the one on the peddle tip, it the one on the throttle base. Yeah if you can set your foot on the peddle and just the weight of your foot depress it, that means you are always holding your foot up and to give it gas you are just easing that upward pressure off a little. Very bad for the foot, calf and ankle muscles. You have top push on the gas to depress it and the throttle return spring should push your foot back up. If it doesn't..."make it so"...lol It also makes it not jumpy on rough trails.

I did look at doing that but I wasn’t sure if the spring would handle another wrap without breaking. Wasn’t sure of the quality of the metal really.

Let me take a look at mine just to be sure that's what I did...it's been a while now.

Looks simple enough. I’ll try getting to that today. Thanks.

Now my 800 Trail was my first SXS so I don't have prior experience what to expect in the throttle but I found that I just had to ride it a while in order to 'educate' my foot in how to get good control over my throttle. Good luck and good SXS you have there.

It’s my first sxs too. Still have a lot to learn. I did get to working on my throttle yesterday. I trimmed the throttle arm back to allow the pedal to sit more vertical. I also tried to wrap the spring around but I found that it became to tight to make the revolution. So I “manually adjusted it a little and put a bolt in between the spring and arm. Made a huge difference. I need to take it on a good ride to see if it was enough.

You know I was just thinking maybe I just shortened the spring a bit, unwound it and re-bent the right angle 90 on the end instead if wrapping it again.Benn so long...it was one of the first mods I did. Had to...leg and foot was killing me.

Ya my leg was angry too. Seems to be at least a little better now. I might search out a heavier spring for that too. The stock one seems to be a little chinsy. If I find something I’ll let you know

Probably as it applies more return pressure. Remember, it won't wrap one more time but it will un-coil more cut off the end and re-bend that 90 and reinstall in the bracket.

I noticed I was holding my foot up to keep my foot from working the pedal too much and my leg/ankle were getting tired too.  My solution was to change the angle of my foot to the pedal by filling the well under the pedal with pices of thick rubber.  Once I brought the level up to the same as the rest of the floorboard I was better able to control the gas pedal and, thus, elimating all of my previous problems.
