zforce 800 trail lift
« on: January 05, 2018, 04:51:41 PM »
so I want to do a little lift on my 800 trail I was wondering can I go 2" without messing up the cv axles. can I use EX axles for the extra length? how much longer are EX axles different from TRAIL axles? my overall goal is more ground clearance im running 26" tires. Also can I step up to 28" tires with out putting too much stress on the axles? I mainly do rocky trails at a slow or moderate speed.

I'll let others that have done it answer your question because I haven't put a lift on my trail. But I'll just toss-in that the trail has such short a-arms and axles, a 2" lift would be ..IMO..  too tough on the CV joints.. and no, you would need the EXs a-arms to run their axles. The other thing is...the trail rides like a buckboard anyway and a lift like that would make it even worse. If it were mine...and I thought I needed more ground clearance, Yes, I would go with the 28" tires first, then do an 1-inch spacer lift...then let those skid plates do their job. I do have 27" tires, some steel skid plates and I have adjusted the preload to be just a hair higher then it came from the factory...and I get by.

How do you like the Ricochet plates? I had them on my Brute and loved them. I made sine steel side plates and rock sliders but it was always my intension to get something lighter in the future plus do away with the center plastic plate.

If i had a trail I'd run 28s or 29s if they would fit.  29s no lift.  28s 1 inch bracket lift.

I love my skid plates, ive just got to invest in a TIG welder now (oh noooo an excuse to get a new welder) because im very hard on them and can see cracks happening in the future.
