Hey happy new year i have a 19 Zforce 800 trail, somethings up with the ignition, feel like its electrical or bad switch. i'm trying to avoid brining to shop if I can and narrow down the part I need to replace, any direction would be appreciated.

When attempting to start:
Turn the key clockwise slightly from Off position until the dash lights up and can hear pump coming on, I wait the few seconds for that cycle to complete.
Continue to turn the key clockwise towards start, it almost has a power failure; dash goes off and no start. If i twist the key a tiny bit further clockwise sometimes the engine will attempt to turn over. I have found lightly twisting the key between Start and On position I can get it to turn over, but in some cases I can't. I have to catch it just right. Or it turns over, I release the key where the spring in the switch wants to set it from Start to On, once it snaps back to On from start it shuts off.

If I hold the key in that start position and get it turned over, sometimes i'll hold it there for a minute so it stays in Start position and doesn't snap back to On, then slowly release it. Once its up and running it stays running.

Seems to be getting worse lately, and more touchy when cold start. I don't think it is a power issue, possibly the ignition switch, starter, or kill switch? Was curious is anyone has had similar issue or have an opinion? good place to snag stock replacement parts? peace thanks

My first thought is the ignition switch...and it may very well be. However that same symptom, aside from the sticking in "Start" can be generated from either a bad connection in system power supply of ground. I think I would replace the switch first just because it sounds like it's mechanically malfunctioning. If that doesn't do it start at the battery with a load test and work out from there checking all connections...including the main fuse holder..not the fuse itself. There was quite a few 2018s and 19s that had bad fuse holders. Bad internal connections or crimps causing what is called "cold connections". Good luck.   

It seems to me that your description of make and break connections being affected by small movements of the ignition key and fiddling to find an inconsistent 'magic spot', point to a faulty key switch before all other possibilities.

I'm too lazy right now to go outside and into the toy hauler where I store my Z to test but I seem to recall that when turning the key all the way to start, the lights and dash cut off in order to direct the most amperage to the starter, so the lights and dash going out may be the normal state of affairs. A faulty key switch might just be your only problem rather than just one of them.

I have 2 zforce 800 2018, I have disabled the start or kill switch on my 2 machines. The rocker created a problem when starting, same symptoms you mention, I simply removed the switch and jumpered the pins. At the moment good!!. And if you can protect the cable harnesses under the board, they are not hermetic connections and with the humidity of the pressurized water that can enter you can also have an electrical problem.

I'm having the same issue now. Did you ever find out what the problem was
