Well the machine developed a squeak on a trip about couple weeks ago. Not always and not on any particular movement, and not in one location but rather a few places down below. More noted on larger suspension excursions. I'd greased all suspension points thoroughly.
I began to wonder if I had fatigue cracks that were rubbing against one another. I was ready to take the skid plates off to inspect and track this sound. Was my skid plate the only thing holding it together?

On a hunch I took a can of WD40 and using the red straw, reached in and zotted a bit on all the shock attachment points. Shut it right up, no more squeaks. Forehead slap.  ;D

Yeah that's the first place these tend to squeak. If you ever have some time its good to pull each one, pull the caps out, clean it up with some BrakeClean if needed, then slap some good grease in them. I did this video many years ago on doing that when mine started squeaking to high-heaven.

Forgot to mention, this is the Elka shocks.  ???
The same lubing advice ought to apply I'm sure. Thanks. Imagine, all that noise resulting from the minute angle change and tiny bit of rotation at the shock mount.
