My wife drove the Z-800 over to the County Fair as she was in charge of the pie eating contest. I asked her to come home and feed the dogs as I had Sinus Surgery yesterday and the pain was getting to me. ( I took an Oxycodone in the morning and had nothing for almost 8 hours) I was starting to hurt pretty bad.

Well, she went out to start the Z800 but noticed she had left it in H not park. But had the parking brake on. She put it in Park and put the key in and turned the key to start it. But nothing happened. No click from the solenoid, nothing turning from the starter, no sound whatsoever.

She called me and I had her try various things like rocking it in park, in high, with and without the parking brake on. Just to see if a sensor was stuck. Then I had her try to start it in N, and in H and then moving it back to Park.

All the lights on the panel came on, no error lights were blinking. The headlights came on as well.

She tried it with and without the seat belt on. With and without the foot brake on.

She finally had to catch a ride to come home and help me to bed and feed the dogs. And then head back to the County Fair where she was going to help run the Rotary's food stand.

Anyone have any suggestions of what else to try?

Thanks, Dan

Did she try flipping the kill switch on and off a few times?

Details and accuracy are so important when diagnosing over the internet.

It sounds from your description that the first time she turned the key, the dash did not come on. Is that what happened? I say that because you mentioned it lit up after she rocked the machine.

If the dash did not light up, then I would suspect there is a weak/bad connection someplace. Ignition switch, weak fuse connection, weak ground, weak battery connection; that sort of thing.

My bad, the dashboard lights came on all the time the key was turned.

It was the darn kill switch as @NMKawierider mentioned.

The brain fog from the surgery and lack of meds messed up my head more than I realized.

Thanks everyone, the Z8 is back up and running. Hopefully she remembers that she can't drive it on the streets at night as there are no turn signals.
