Would you do it again?
« on: November 29, 2017, 05:36:16 PM »
I'm new to the forum and I'm curious what current owners think. If you were buying a new sxs would you buy CFMOTO ZFORCE 800 again? Have there been improvements made along the way and are there year models to avoid?

100% yes! God willing I’ll be in a position to get the Z10 if/when it goes into production.
Yes, CFM has been updating there brand every year, better wiring, improved shocks, improved air filters to name a few.
The company has been such a pleasure to deal with, customer service, and dealership great to work with.  As far as the machine itself , I highly recommend these to anyone looking to get into the sport, or who may be looking to get into something new and wants to save some $$$.
With the accessories available for these now, I’m very pleased!

I've test driven a Polaris 900 and an Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail. Both had pros and cons. I ended up buying a Zforce 800 for a number of reasons and would do it again for all the same reasons, but on the top of the list are the superior standard features list and value for the $$$.

I couldn't justify spending thousands more for fewer features and similar performance.

If I lived in New York, I would probably have bought the Wildcat because it's the only one under 1000lbs which is a state defined limit.

If power was the top priority then I probably would have gone with the Polaris.

I've had no issues with the Z in its first 550 miles.

I’m with gf and Doug, I would definitely buy another, we could have bought a polaris
if we had chosen to, but with the features and the quality of workmanship it was a much better deal, we have over 1000 miles on ours with no trouble to date, other than the coolant
fan switch.

I've asked myself that very same question throughout my ownership of my Z8 and although my answer may have been different at the start, it has proven to be reliable and has given me more then expected. For what you get for the money, and as easy as they are to upgrade the .."questionable" stuff.. yes, I would do it again...except it would be the EX.

I would buy one again.  I'd go with the 1000cc if they were available.  My 800 has plenty of power but, the 1000 has more.  Just remember its easier to post about how something broke than how well it works.  Nobody is going to tell you how great the ball joints are.  You will only hear about how someone broke one.

I'd buy it again.  Although I am glad that I paid more to get the 2017 model than some 2015's that were leftover since there were some changes.  So far, no buyer's remorse.  My only real gripe is the suspension.  I don't think they ride well compared to others in the same class.  They kind of boast a bit on the suspension in their ads, but really the suspension subpar.  It does what I need it to do.  Love that the winch and hard top comes stock.  So far no issues with mine.

The non US models have way better suspension than us in the states, we got boned. Our price is cheaper though

Do you know what changes were made? I've been looking at a used 2015.

Trailside,

There are some great deals on new models that are 15/16 now that the 1000's are coming out, I've seen the Z8 for $9500 and $9900 with doors and a windshield new plus tax and stuff. I love my Z8 and would do it again without thought. That being said I have a great dealer that is thorough when doing the preps on all machines they sell. This seems to be an issue and one of the only main issues with the CF Moto....not an issue with the product more an issue with a lack of knowledge when the product has been uncrated and prepped. Make sure that your local dealer will support you and the product properly and you should be good to go.

Cheers
When, where and how many jumps?

Every three months they correct legitimate problems straight on the production line. With CFM..always get the newest you can. Between 2015 and 2017 many issues were addressed  such ad fan switches, suspension bushings, brakes, engine timing chain issues, water pump issues, many electrical connection issues, shocks... and so on. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra dollar or two for the updated version. You wouldn't buy a computer running Vista just because it's cheaper...right?

I’m looking at a used 2015 with 1200 miles. What should I look for as potential issues?

First and foremost, maintenance records..and how long it was used with the stock airfilter. If it still has it..expect the engine to be at the end of it's life, although some have gone longer. Then warn or seized suspension bushings..bearings..common stuff to look at.
