So here is a quick update if anyone is following. The dealer got in contact with cfmoto. They say the oil pressure light is likely some valve they have to check and it will probably be under warranty, the tick noise they suspect may be "lack of maintenance" as it may be a valve out of adjustment or a cam tensioner issue and they wanted authorization from me to go further and charge me for it.  Well I won't authorize that since this noise has been there since I bought it in October, I have video of the noise in October and brought it to them the first time when the caliper bolt came out and broke the wheel with the additional complaint of the noise which they failed to address. So that was 2 weeks ago. Still waiting 12/30/16 was the last time the dealer talked to cfmoto and they guy the dealer talked to said he would have to talk to the warranty supervisor. there has been no contact with between the dealer and cfmoto since. It has been at the dealership since 12/10/16.

I think I would contact CFM directly on this or email Greg directly and get him involved. These delays are not what CFM wants for it's customers.

Greg has gotten involved a little and has forwarded a couple of my messages to the warranty supervisor he has been a great help. I asked for contact info but the only thing the dealer said was to go through the website which got me nowhere and the number listed there just sends me to a voicemail. It seems like the dealer will call once a week, get an voicemail. The dealer has one guy who seems to be the only one who does anything in the service dept and he is hard to get ahold of. I'm getting really frustrated

This is the EXACT reason why I dont by a machine based on a warranty.  My machine never came with a warranty (I bought it wrecked) but when you buy a machine based on a warranty you are begging for this to happen and have them take their sweet time while you anxiously wait for some kind or word or movement on the problem.  Its not just CF Moto.  It is ALL dealerships and ALL brands.  It sucks your having trouble but that is why when I buy a machine I build it to withstand EVERYTHING I can throw at it regardless if it voids a warranty or not.  Because that warranty wont get you home from the trails
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.

That is fine when you have the time or desire to build something. I have neither.  I do warranty claims for a living for a company that does about 60 dealers for GM, I assure you it does not need to be this painful and slow.  Most customers have their car back within a day or two and GM will provide a rental if needed while the car is in for warranty repair. Apparently Cfmoto does not trust dealers to make any warranty repair at their own discretion which is why this is so difficult, or they have no training for the techs to know the product they are working on so they have to contact the manufacturer for everything.

There is a Oil pressure blowoff/bypass valve at the bottom, I have seen many messed up with a small pcs of crap in them,
I'd start with the oil sensor, I have a graveyard can of them on bench.
The older 800 had some oil pump issues with the nylon gear teeth.
But intermittent oil lights screams sensor to me.
As for CFmoto warranty , yes the head office has complete control over the Y/N of every claim. You can only blame CFmoto warranty office/personal in USA.
They then submit bulk to the Factory for high level reimbursement.
This is funny seeing how they are owned by the same people. Left hand pays the right.
That said, most dealers are left in the dark about fixing these units, so try the just order a large amount of parts and change parts till you fix problem.
This costs CF money! Dealers are not paid for diagnose time, So they will try to push it back to you.
More of a sell parts way of thinking. Everyone wins but the customer.
So for your warranty Claims, Start to complain to the Head Office if you want to see real change.
If it has Pistons or Tits you will encounter problems.

My oil pressure light will only come on and blink 2-3 times then go out and happens very intermittently. usually after stopping to change in or out of 4x4 lock. I thought it was the sensor as well, but they said CFM said they wanted them to check an oil valve. The mechanical gauge showed 43psi when they checked it.
I got a call back last night that they got the ok from CFM to pull it in the shop and determine what is wrong with it.

So they cleaned the oil valve and say the oil light hasn't come on. Then he started trying to convince me the engines on these are noisey and it could be normal. He is contacting CFmoto to see what else they want them to do. They checked the valve lash, it is good, they checked the cam tensioner, it is good. This noise is too loud to be normal and given the fact you can only hear it in the rear cylinder and not the front is a pretty good indicator to mee it is not normal. They will have to fire up a new 800 and show me that it makes the same noise if I am going to believe that one. I will try to post the video, it is pretty clear on it if it posts.

Well...mine does not make that noise. That sounds like either a clutch-related problem....or...a loose rod bearing...which by the way can let enough oil pressure bleed off and make the light come on. When what ever it is comes apart...they will know. Run the hell out of it so when it does...it will take a complete new engine. JMO.

Got a call from Cfmoto. As far as the oil pressure light the dealer said they removed the cover and found some debris in the oil passage. The dealer checked the valve lash and cam chain tensioner and it's within spec. Jason at Cfmoto told me he doesn't want to spend any more time or money chasing a noise that the dealership feels is normal. I explained to him I don't feel it is normal and that if it was normal the same noise would be coming from the front cylinder. It's clear as day. He told me to "ride the wheels off it" and if its an issue it should get louder or blow up then they can fix it. I reluctantly agreed. He also told me the dealer has other 800's I can listen too and the dealer said they heard the noise from them as well. So I went to pick it up. I went out with the advisor to two other zforce 800 machines. He started them, I hear the little knocking noise on start up then once the idle smooths out they are pretty quiet. I brought my stethoscope to listen to the engine, I hear nothing out of the ordinary as the advisor is telling me, see you hear it right. I said no not really. He starts the second one and says he heard it more on this machine. So he starts it up, sounds normal I put the stethoscope on I head nothing out of the ordinary. He tells me he heard the exact same noise mine makes. Well there is no way, it may make the same type of noise of the piston going up and down but mine is 10 times louder and sounds metallic. Then he goes and starts my machine and I can hear it tapping away from 50 feet away. He pulls it on the trailer and I tell ask him. You're telling me you can't hear the difference between my engine and the two we just started standing next to it right now? This thing is WAY louder, He just doesn't answer me and goes to get my paperwork. The write up on the paperwork was riddles with attitude, he made it quite clear they had no desire to work on the machine and were pissed off I wasn't giving in. Clearly they convinced Cfmoto that they thought it was normal because they wanted nothing to do with the machine.

Like I said..and CFM..run the hell out of it. The problem will sooner or later show itself. Form the sound of it..it's probably sooner...Just hope you aren't too far from home or truck.

I plan to. It is just really annoying that I have to have a machine in pieces before they will fix it. If this was a car there is no way they would say well just drive it until it explodes and then we will fix it.  My guess is its a wrist pin issue, piston slap, or broken ring lands. something that could be easily fixed pulling the cylinder, but no wait until it blows and then its gonna need a new engine... whatever

I'm with you...I would find in hard if not impossible to allow an engine to destroy itself just to find a problem. And by the way, there has been some seized wrist pin reports.
