What do you use to protect the exterior?
« on: May 25, 2021, 02:07:03 PM »
I am somewhat of a fanatic when it comes to protecting the finish of my cars. An amateur detailer if you will. I have two foam cannon's, a bunch of different detailing equipment including a couple of different random orbital polishers.

So, oh great fellow members, what tips, tricks and products have you found that work will with this amazing machine?

I want to go out again today and get it dustier but my wife wants me to work on the back yard and other projects. Such a meanie!!

Wow, these things are FUN!!!

An old friend once told me "If you aren't scratch'n it, you ain't ride'n it". Meaning its going to get scratched and used-looking over time. But I found the less I rubbed the surface, the longer it stays like new. I always do most of my cleaning with my pressure washer first and then sometimes with a bucket of warm water and some car wash n wax and a soft brush followed by a rinse with the pressure washer and towel dry. Ones a year I will use some non-abrasive Mothers past wax just to give it a little shield and some Maxima SC-1 detailer between washes to help make it shine and things not to stick to it. Makes it easier to clean-up later.

That Maxima SC-1 is some amazing stuff, around here we call it "new bike in a can" makes things shine like a diamond and helps the mud rinse off easier.

Thanks guys, I haven't heard/seen Maxima SC-1.

I will take a look at it

As long as it works, I am all in favor of taking it easy way.

For detailing sprays, I have been using Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Quik Clay System. The Hybrid Ceramic spray leaves behind a ceramic type coating that really enhances the shine and water repellency.
