Spare Parts
« on: September 07, 2016, 09:01:27 PM »
Question for those with the Zforce 800...

I have purchased a used 2015 Zforce 800. I know the owner and that the machine has not been abused and has been cared for. It has about 1000 miles on it. The machine has had two problems. A rear carrier/transaxle seal replaced and the coolant temp sensor replaced. Both replaced by the local dealer under warranty.

For my other quads and dirt bikes, I carry, in the race trailer, a supply of various parts that can be replaced in camp with basic tools like nut & bolt kits, clutches, throttle & clutch cables, chains & sprockets , etc... (other machine specific things that are known items to fail and able to change without major overhaul procedures).

Along those lines... are there any parts that owners would recommend buying for a stock of spare parts? Maybe unique bolts that seem common to come loose and get lost?
The first one I thought to buy is the coolant temp sensor because it already went out once. The PO also has a new spare belt. Anything else?

Thanks in advance

I just keep a switch and some wire with for bad thermo sensors ect. Gets you back to fun fast. The belt is not something you want to do at camp, pita. They aren't known for eating belts so that's the up side. 6&8mm bolts for most of it, nothing special I have found. Tires and batteries are my main trouble makers for me. A extra filter if very dusty out.

I picked up three oil filters from my dealer since he's an hour and a half from me. Since they use a specific oil filter. Bag of body push pins.  Not a lot I can think of other than the obvious things, filter , zip ties, etc etc.

I carry a small socket set with me as well. I would also lock tite all the suspension hardware. I found out the hard way that the factory tool kit in the glove box doesn't have a 15mm after my sway bar bolt and both front lower a arm bolts came loose on the trail. Tire repair is good like stated above. The factory abuzz tires are 2 ply trash. I also have the service manual downloaded to my phone for field repairs. I've used that plenty on the trail.

I don't take much in the way of spare parts , just some extra push-pins but I do take an extra small tool kit with things the OE kit doesn't have. I also highly recommend going completely through a machine to make sure every nut, bolt and screw is tight and torqued to spec..everything...and inspect that what's supposed to have a cotter pin...has one! People have found axle nuts with them missing and they back off. I found one missing on a tie rod end.

Thanks for the suggestions and tips. The ride has new tires as the PO is a retired friend who is very experienced with atv's and recognized that the 2 ply oem tires were lacking.

This should be a great machine for my wife who is a "cautious" driver. I doubt this machine will see a rough day in its life unless I give it one!

So where do you find the Rackboss for the Zforce 800? I didnt see an option for the CF Moto on SuperATV.Com. Do you retro fit a rack & pinion for another machine?
