Title: Sound proofing
Post by: Webb2018 on August 11, 2018, 12:34:06 PM
So I just did my first oil change, gear lube, valve adjustment and got a little carried away. I want to cut down the noise in the cab. I will be riding it in northern Wisconsin so dust is not my biggest concern. I ordered a mushroom filter and will be moving the air intake to the box so I can close off the old intake with sound deadening material. I also put a Uni filter on it.
My questions are how much noise comes in the CVT vent? I would rather not have to change that unless it will reduce  the noise in the cab.  Anyone have much luck in sound proofing the cab and want to share their ideas. I got some good ideas from NMK already just wondering what others have found.

So I moved the air intake and the CVT intake to snorkels and added sound deadening to the plastic and plugged the holes. It made a big difference in noise. It still has more whining gear and clutch noise then I want but it is better.

The 80W140 gear oil I put in my rear gear case did help a lot.

Just open a free Imgur account, upload them, then post the links. Cake.. Heck you can even post a link to an entire album. I just uploaded some pics from out last ride. Here:

There ya go..works! :)   When Jason switches-over to the new platform we won't have to do it this way anymore. But for now it's the only way.
If you click on "Get share Links" and select the lower left one, you can post an image link like this:

I'm sorry man..even the smallest images are too large now they the server space is all used up. It's a miracle we can still post text and links. You might me able to post one of the link-types from your Imgur account but I haven't tried..as I know if I give up my avatar it could be gone for good with this platform. I have a secondary account I will try it with though.

OK, lets test this. I went to profile, edit avatar and selected enter URL. I then went to my Imgur account, went to that pic and selected get shared links. I then selected the top left which shoes to have HTTP: link, went back to the profile share, deleted what was in that field and pasted that link, then saved it. Lets see if it worked. This is the first post on my secondary account. NMK

Update: Nope..didn't work. Will try other links.

Well, tried all links with all variations and image sizes I could think of and nothing can be uploaded. The only thing that did work was selecting one from the the list that is already on the server. Not much variety though. Some actors and some musicians. Looks like you can post a BBCode in your signature though. Funny how it won't take it in the avatar though.

Thanks for trying. I did try posting from Imgur too with no luck.
