So i bought a uni filter for my Z8ex
« on: June 09, 2016, 01:40:02 AM »
Shoul'd i install it now or it's better if i'll wait till the oem will finish it's life?
What does the Uni better than the oem? Will the engine breath better with the Uni?
(The oem is brand new...only 400Km with no dust. I have snorkeled air filter...)
No Risk No Fun.

I think everyone will join in and agree....YES!!! Change it out now.  Yes the UNI will let it breathe much better than oem filter and inst a cheap paper filter.  Why take even a slight chance when you already have the UNI in your hand?   Nice snorkels btw. Those were the dealer installed ones right?

LOL...yeah even though your are protected with the second filter, many of the OEs are letting 5 micron and smaller partials get by. Better safe then sorry! Be sure to oil the Uni with the proper foam filter oil first.

Did you all use the oem plastic adapter that comes in the oem air filter?

When I tried to assemble the UNI filter to the original adapter it kept sliding off as is seemed to be flared on that end.  I flipped the adapter and used the other end where I found it to more secure.  I'm feeling some what insecure about the assembly fearing it may fall off.  I'm questioning if I should go out an purchase some pipe to replace the adapter.

When I installed my TwinAir, I noticed one end of the adaptor seemed to fit the airbox side with little lip or groove but nothing on the other side for the filter which did fit very tightly over the adaptor. Once all was clamped I grabbed it and tried to get it go slide off or out anywhere and couldn't. No one else has reported any issues with the UniFilter so I think you should be fine.

But let me ask...did you get one of these two filters because these are what people are using:

Ahhhh, when I removed the original filter the lip/groove end was in the filter.   I had a dog of time trying to get the UNI 6229AST on.  Thanks NMK, now I know I have it on the right way.   :)
