shock came apart. check your shafts.
« on: November 04, 2015, 08:26:55 AM »
Just a qwick note. My 15' z8 ex with about 600 miles on it had a front shock come apart this weekend on the trail. The shaft unscrewed from the shock rod end. Managed to find the retainer and shaft pin (bent and broke) winched it up a tree and got the shock back together to drive it back to the trailer.
Havnt called the dealer yet but I'm sure it won't be an issue at all .
Just a qwick note, 12 mm open end wrench, there's wrench groves on the bottum of the shafts, Check them and make sure there tight.
I'll be thread locking mine.

So did it unscrew from the bottom part or pull out?  I just had a shock blow apart today.  2nd one.  Earlier this year, my driver side rear blew apart, pulled out of the bottom.  Today, the pass side did the same thing.  Both mine are/were covered under warranty.
