Reclocking needed if bumping up to 27” tires?
« on: May 19, 2022, 12:24:52 AM »
Looking at some new 8 ply tires and thought I might bump up to a 27”. Curious if re-clocking is necessary for this small of an increase? I don’t quite have the skills or tools (yet) to do the re-clocking. Any input is welcome. Thanks.

Everyone I know has put larger tires on their Side x Side and has never needed to do anything unless they were large enough to require a lift or heavy enough to suggest an upgraded sheave or other clutch work to maintain low speed performance.

I put 27's on my Trail 800 and the difference was pretty much undetectable, at least to my seat of the pants dyno. Still, modest re-clocking is a good move.

I put 8-ply 27s on mine and yes, it needed it badly. In fact even with the stocks at this elevation it should have been clocked to C1. So, IMO at least C1.
