What is the purpose of the circular plate that's behind the primary clutch? The one that bolts up to the cvt air guide?

The primary has fins that pull in air and the only plat I know of back there helps guide the air flow.

Ok thanks. Makes sense since it is called an air guide.

Can't remove the middle drive shaft to have access to the bolt circled. Also can't remove the front shaft housing also circled in the photo. Is there a special too needed to remove this shaft?

Should not need anything to remove the front assembly. It should just slide out then the shaft can come out..from what I know-haven't done it myself. Unless it has to go in before the bevel transition gears go in. What does the manual say?
