oil psi light

I just bought a new 2018 left over zforce 800 trail.  It has 7 miles on it and while driving it out of my garage I noticed the oil light came on after it was running for a bit.  It came on for a brief second then went out.  It happened 3/4 times while it was running.  It happened at idle and the light would not stay on.  If it was a oil issue wouldn't it stay on?  Looking for ideas before I bring it in.  Where are the wire connections for the oil psi sensor?

May just be the sensor. They have had some issues with them lately. It's the only thing with an electrical connection between the two cylinders on the case. You should be able to see it on the right/passenger-side of the engine.

Hook up an oil pressure gauge and check the pressure. Or have the dealer do it. it's fairly simple.

As Clark said, it's likely to be the sender, but I would want to know while it is still under warranty.

I believe the sender is set for 10lbs, and max is around 60lbs at higher RPM.

I've had the oil pressure light come on randomly at low rpm since I've had mine.  Brought it in for warranty work once,  they said they cleaned some slag or something from an oil passage sounded like a known problem.  Buy a couple months later it started doing it again.  I've still yet to hook an oil pressure gauge up... if its got low oil pressure not much i can do about it anyway just drive it till it blows up then decide if i want to fix it.

Really should put a gauge on it and see for sure. Low oil pressure doesn't always mean the rod bearings are damaged...although it is the leading number of cause after over heating...because of a bad thermoswitch. One member found his pressure relief valve was stuck while another found his oil cooler had a blockage while another found his pickup to the pump was partly blocked. Of course there are many with just faulty pressure switches that didn't have a pressure problem at all. Still..it's always good to know what's going on...especially with these CFM's.

I have a totally different machine but I’ll weigh in. When my cf500 HO oil light came on the first time, I was several miles in the woods and still had a good distance to go. Of course the first thing I did was panic and shut it off. After checking the oil level (good) and not seeing and oil leaks. I crossed my fingers and hoped it was the psi switch. Once back home I started checking the wiring and the bypass valve. Even cleaned out the switch. After checking the psi with a gauge and still couldn’t find any problem so I replaced the switch. Bingo problem solved! For a little while anyway. Since then I’ve gone through 3 switches. Sometimes they start intermediately turning the light on before completely failing. I’m not sure why these are such a problem for me, I always use oem replacement parts. So from my experience, I’d say it’s most likely the switch. But definitely worth testing the psi with a gauge for peace of mind.

One of the many things I've learned about the Chinese manufacturer's is the consistent how to cut corners & costs. Every manufacturer does this except generally it must be improved quality, so finding this sensor from a different oem brand will most likely solve the problem.

X2. The plus is you can usually find a quality replacement for most anything...somewhere. :)

I had a 2016 400 with 40 hours with a bad thermo switch yesterday. Unfortunately I have a POS OEM so it's installed & working. Searching quickly I found this, as well on the sensor is stamped 88 ON is the switch temp in C. I've not explored this link, looks promising to find another sensor.
