Oil Pressure light after 1st oil change
« on: March 27, 2020, 11:22:10 PM »
Just changed my oil for 1st time and used Castrol Power1 10w-40.  Took my 2019 800ex out for a drive and the oil pressure light would come on at low speeds.  The dealer had already changed oil pressure sensor so was just wondering if anyone has had this prob after and oil change?  Also my rig seemed to get hotter than normal around the air intake.  Almost too hot to touch the plastic.  Any thoughts would appreciated.  Thanks!

That's the oil I use..never had a problem. Actually ran cooler. Double check that it is full. Are you sure it's the oil pressure light?

Oil light came on on my Z8 during our last outing also.  I've got right around 800 miles and three oil changes.  Oil is full and no light unless running long down hill trails, slow, then when I level off, no light.  Temperature stays at 3 bars and it runs like a champ.  I'm thinking all is fine but will keep an eye on it.  Headed on a long, flat desert ride tomorrow.  Last ride of the winter here in Yuma.  Next week, it's back to the snow and cold...I will survive.

I checked again and if anything I got it at Max full.  It did run a lot quieter now the break in oil is out but it did feel like it ran hotter by the air intake area.  Temp gauge waa perfect while it was only 75 degrees outside during some good up and down hill riding.  Oil pressure light came on a couple times blinking and back off but never did it again.

I know this is probably a silly question but in the handbook it says to start engine for about 30 seconds and wait for a short time to check oil level.  How long is a short time?

Bobcat 72, I always check my oil cold on level surface.  I understand circulating the oil right after a change, but when I change the oil I run the engine for around 5 minutes, shut it down, let it sit for about five minutes while I check the skid plate, oil plug and ground for oil dripping.  Then I check the oil level using the dip stick...SO to answer your question.  Five minutes.

The manual just wants all the air out of the system and the oil cooler full so the level in the sump (crank case) is as close to what it will be during running. 15-30 seconds is usually enough for that after sitting like over night. When changing oil you try and clear everything so it takes a little longer..at least 60 seconds to be sure.

Did you ever resolve this issue? Mine seems to do the same thing. I have a 2020 ZForce800 trail and the oil light will flicker for a couple seconds when braking sometimes. Dealer could not figure it out, they think it'll work its self out, but i don't think that'll be the case.

Good afternoon, last weekend, I went out to test my zforce800, we did about 60 milles, the one way trip the oil pressure light came on a couple of times, and on the way back I don't know why it turned on 4 to 5 times. I was attentive to the rev range it turned on, and it went down or up in the 1900 rev range.
In these months I will install the oil pressure kit on the dash to keep it under control all the time. To say that I already checked the pressure and it was correct, but I have the fly in my ear to know if at the moment of turning on the light, the pressure drops.
Thank you!!!.

I had my  Guage hooked up once and drove it around and i saw the pressure drop to 0 when braking intermittently. So it's definitely not a electrical problem with the oil pressure sensor

You need to determine what the problem is and that requires getting an actual pressure read from an oil pressure gauge as a first step.  Remove the oil sender switch and hook up the gauge and test at various RPMs.

If it's truly low, then you need to start looking into why. (Weak pump, oil screen/passage blockage, etc)

If the pressure is good, replace the sending unit.

Disconnect the oil pressure switch, check it and if it works but in the place where it goes with the engine running 1300rpm nothing blows. Zero pressure and also test removing the filter and starting up without a filter, the pressure does not rise either.

I'm confused.

Did you put a gauge on it?

What year is the machine?
