New tires

I have a z800 ex , what tires do you guys favor as replacements. My riding is mostly in rock, big and small and dirt and find desert dust. Thanks for ideas on how I can spend more money, but wisely! Wayne

You are going to get a lot of different answers but mostly here in the southwest we need a good strong 8+ply tire that can deal with not only the mountains, but the hot desert and its sharp hazzards and billy-goat-up things many don't have to deal with...as you know. I don't like going too large as it adds stresses to the drive train and takes a lot out of the power. I like my 27" Reapers but..personally..next time..I think I want to try a set of Dirt Commanders. Lots of great reviews and heck even Dirt Trax likes them best on SxSs. I also think I want to do with the same tire all the way around and a new set of wheels that will let me get rid of the 1.5" spacers I have. Think I'll go with a 5+2 in a 14"...cause we need the 14s. Then go stick with a 27" but do a 10" wide all the way around. That's one inch narrower in back and one inch wider up front from stock. With the PS that should still be OK and I can then rotate tires as needed....and get one spare that can fit both ends right if needed.  Just thinking out loud. Lots of tires out there that would be great for us...just have to start reading the reviews. I just like GBC...and I did ride with a guy that had them. Nothing stopped him..not even sand.

These Rock-a-billys are becoming pretty popular these days too. I wouldn't go that large but...

I have 29" dirt commanders, I can't complaint. light weight for an 8 ply and they have good all around traction. The two guys I ride with bought dirt commanders after I bought mine.
