New machine loose bolts
« on: July 13, 2019, 01:31:57 PM »
Finally got the new z800 home. Has .5 miles on it. After reading on here,I checked everything before we ever rode it. This is what we found...

Both bolts on the front diff were loose.

One bolt on the rear diff was loose.

Both rear motor mounts were loose.

R/F upper A arm was loose.

Tighten everything down and all is good. A good note the tie rods did have carter pins in them.

Greased everything and put the uni on with the outerwear prefilter. The prefilter was on the top intake.

That’s it so far.  Done about 7 miles last night everything went good.

Is there anything else I check?

Good! So glad you took the time to go through that. So many don't and have had so many problems..The only other important thing you might want to check us the all the parts of the steering shaft. There are bolts that clamp the U-joint yokes to the splined shafts that are not always tight and in time the splines get looser. Don't over-do it but check them all...all the way down to the rack. While there make sure you have a little play at the top of both the brake and throttle peddle.

I hope you contacted the dealer about the loose bolts, the predelivery inspection is where all this should have been caught and corrected if there is such a thing with cfmotos.  I purchased a single axle trailer to haul mine and an atv drove home with it, over 100 miles, and after I parked it I found the spring shackle bolts that hold the axle and suspension to the trailer were left finger tight and one bolts had almost completely fallen out. With that said, our up and coming work force I believe have a much different work ethic than my generation did. Everywhere you go you find employees simply could care less about their quality of work anymore.

I second that. Too often we say nothing so it becomes the standard. Draw lines...say something...be heard!

I will be contacting the dealer Monday. I told him about the stuff I’ve been reading on here and asked him to check ALL those things. Not a good start.... I’m not a pain in the a$$ customer but if I ask you to check knew issues it should be checked. That’s just good business.
