I am looking at buying a 50 inch side by side and the cfmoto z800 has stood out to me as a strong contender. I want something that can ride mountain trails but also handle hauling out a dead animal. Has anyone stuck a elk in the back; either quartered or whole? Do you think you could pack in a week long camp in one of these things?

The cargo box has a weight limit of just over 200 lbs. The UForce isn't any better.

They sell racks that mount to the back above the cargo box to increase carrying capacity.

Of course, you could always load up the passenger side too ...

If that isn't sufficient, then  perhaps a small trailer is in order.

Week long camping trip minus the elk, sure. I like the idea of a small trailer for the elk. I see a lot of guys pulling a trailer. I prefer the 60 inch over the 50 inch. Why the 50 inch? If you're not limited to 50 inch I would get the 60. Just my 2cents.

Thanks for the reply's, the reason for the 50 inch is that many trails in national forest service land have 50 inch restrictions on them, I want to buy one side by side that can handle rough country but then not limit me to what trails I can use.

I have the 50" and know what you mean about some trails having a 50" width restriction.  I've been around quite a few 60" plus machines and I love the 50" because I can get around in places the other machines can't even begin to go through.  About the trailer idea, I've often thought about getting one because of the load limit on the SXS.  Hell, just the beer for a weeks outing is close to the load limit.

Then if you get an elk you'll have to start just pounding that beer to stay in the weight limit.

I use one of the trailer hitch racks to haul deer out with mine. I put a tarp down and wrap it up so it doesn't get covered in mud but it works awesome and you don't have to lift if as high, lol.

Had mule deer in my trail.  No problem. Big elk might overload it but nothing says you can't make multiple trips too.  Just remember that the bed is directly above the engine and it gets hot, even in cold weather.  I line the bottom of my bed with floor mat from harbor freight so the meat doesn't get cooked during transport.
