New and Confused
« on: September 20, 2022, 07:57:02 PM »
Hello folks... I bought a new 2022 cfmoto zforce800 trail last saturday (sept. 17th) Absolutely love it so far. Since i'm going to attempt most of the maintenance myself, i decided to see if i could find some youtube videos of the procedure. I found a very interesting post. Seems the new 2022 zforce 800,s came out with a new engine and cfmoto failed to let anybody know? In the manual i got with mine, it shows to remove the passenger seat, remove the cover and locate the engine oil dipstick. Well, there's a dipstick there, but evidently its for the transmission. The engine oil dipstick is on the passenger side back by the rear tire. 2 dipsticks. So does the transmission oil stand alone and need changed too? The manual i have says nothing about 2 dipsticks or transmission oil change. Also, evidently if your clutch cover is plastic....you got the newer engine. Now, i'm brand new to the side by side thing so i can only tell you all what i heard. At this point, i just need to know if i need to change the transmission oil. I called the dealer and wanted an updated owners manual, and now THEY are confused as me and said they would get back with me. Anyone know anything about this? thanks...
heres the link to the video i saw:

Yes, the new engine case design replicates the new 950 and 1000. This separates the engine and transmission so they are NOT "shared-sump" engines any longer. The transmission will take the same gear oil that the diffs use which after break-in I recommend a 75-90 synthetic. However until break-in is completed you should use a conventional gear lube and yes, do change it and the diffs on your first engine oil change. After that skip changing them the second engine oil change but do on the third and switch all to the synthetic at that time. You could also switch to synthetic on the engine at that time too if you wish but pick a good one. Never go cheap on fluids or filters. It would also be wise on the second engine oil change to at least check the valve lash. And like all CFM machines, if you want it to live past 1000 miles in dusty conditions, get that Unifilter air filter in it before even your first ride...and use a quality foam filter oil treatment. Most of us use Maxima Fab-1.

Congrats and welcome to the forum.

i got 1 liter of maxima 43901 80w90 premium gear oil for diffs....cfmoto oil filter...Road Passion air filter(this will do till i get the better one?)...2 quarts valvoline synpower 75w90 full synthetic gear oil for transmission.....and 1 gallon maxima premium4 10w40 motorcycle engine oil.....i still have to find out if the capacities are the same as the old engine cause  the owners manual i got with the machine is for the old engine. i called the dealer but all i did was confuse everybody and they said they'd get back with me. thanks again for your help, i do appreciate it.

No synthetics on anything until broke in. I have never heard of that air filter so I don't know. And I think you got too much for the engine and transmission but not enough for the diffs...just guessing though. I would think that the quantities would be close to being the same as the 2018-19 ZForce 1000's. Go to the CFM website and download an owners manual for one.

Pretty sure the diffs are the same as the 2021 800ex. 330ml front and 400ml rear so one liter is plenty. As for oil my wet clutch 800 holds right at 3 quarts (2900ml). I’m learning the metric system with these machines. I’m hearing that the manual for the 2022 CForce 800xc is the go to for these new zforce engines and it’s available on the cfmoto website. Good luck.
