Hello everyone, new 800 trail owner here, just picked up a new machine and I'm reading everything I can to get a good start owning and enjoying this new toy . Here are a few things I had questions about:
I have read about the oil filter must-have  UNI filter and I already ordered me a NU-8703ST filter. I have based this on the UNI website recommendation and as well as some other posts on here. The original filter has a brown outer foam sleeve and I did not see any oil to be present. However, it has a sock placed on the intake. I was questioning if the intake location is really a problem to warrant a relocation mod or is more of a convenience mod to allow for quicker filter checks and cleaning?
Second of the many questions I have is about the wet clutch. Do my unit has a wet clutch set-up ? With the separation of motor oil and transmission oil I have the dual dipstick set-up and I am 90% sure that the shorter dipstick by the oil filter is engine oil and the long skinny metal dipstick that's behind the passenger seat is transmission. The selling dealer told me the opposite... but that doesn't mean he's right!

And does anyone have a link to a service manual? I have tried a few links on here but none are working. The model of the unit is CF800US-A if that makes a difference.

Here is the picture of the protective sock they placed over the air intake, I don't know if it makes a difference at all.

If you take a look inside that area in the pic you will see the engine as well as the front exhaust and the tires. All this casts and holds extreme dust and heat in that area so the engine is pulling-in all this. The sock keeps out the big stuff but not the heat. We do recommend at some time in the future this intake be re-located.

With the two dipsticks, you will not have a wet clutch. The dip stick close to the engine oil filter is the transmission and you can pull it and smell the gear lube. The other is the engine oil. The unifilter air filter is a must no matter what as well as a quality foam filter treatment such as Maxima's FFT or FAB1.

I know of no place other then the dealer to get a service manual for the 22s. Even then it will not have the wiring diagram.

Thank you @NMKawierider for the reply. I am a little disappointed as I was under the impression that the 800 trail model has the wet clutch set-up that keeps a constant belt tension. I am familiar with the Yamaha's Ultramatic CVT and I have to say that system works great, I have a 8 years old machine with that system and I am still running the original belt in the CVT.
Trying to understand what kind system runs in my machine, does that means the primary sheave is spinning constantly with the engine and it's grabbing the belt as you increase the RPM? Basically just like Polaris and Canams are doing it?

Basically..yes. Like everyone else's. Some call it a "belt slammer". I was getting many thousands of miles out of my belts on my Brute Force with this type of CVT. Just have to be mindful of how it works and not let it slip any more then necessary when starting off or going slow. When going under say 5mph for any long distance it's best to use low range. Keeps the RPMs up and belt solidly engaged. One plus and drawback with these CVTech clutches is that use a bearing to let the belt ride on when not engaged where others let it ride on the spinning spindle. This is good...except using a Chinese baring tends to not last as long as say..a Timken or National. If it ever starts to get hard to shift when running or tends to creep forward in gear, that's a sign its starting to seize. Mine has the old style system with the wet clutch like the Yamaha. There are some advantages to that.. but also some disadvantages..mostly the extra rotational mass and it's related power loss...but as you know, that isn't much. Still..even with the wet clutch you don't want to slip it any more then necessary either so the slow and starting-off rule still applies. Enjoy your new Z. It is much updated over mine.

     

After just a few minutes of put-putting around the house I have not found the "sweet" spot and there is some jerkiness starting off in forward and reverse. It makes it harder to do any technical driving at slow speeds, and this is my preferred cup of tea . With my other ride I am able to move a couple inches forward or reverse with great accuracy and while in high gear! I will practice more or maybe there's some CVT tuning that I can do for this kind of riding - like different weights in primary or shimming?
I found a website for parts that shows some useful diagrams alpha-sports.com. Is the Snyper SSV the correct designation for the 800 trail?

In the US, it's ZForce Trail. In Canada its the Snyper I do believe. There are always clutch tuning to make it the way you want it. Weights and springs.

i just got a 2022 800 zforce trail 4 months ago. i've already changed motor oil and transmission oil....dip stick behind the passenger seat is transmission. The other one is motor oil.  My dealer also didnt know, i had to search all over to get info on this thing. Also, my dealer STILL doesn't have the right owners manual for my machine. Use the manual for the engine on the cforce 800xc, it has the same engine. Evidently, cfmoto changed the setup on the 2022 800 trail and didnt mention it to nobody, So i've heard. Drain plug for oil is on the bottom of engine, and trans drain is on the side at the bottom. This is on mine anyway. As far as the jerking you speak of, i was concerned about that too at first. Seems i've gotten the hang of it tho. I was tryin to take off by just easin the throttle down. Now i give it more throttle at take off and that seems to have solved alot of the jerking. I drive a lot of desert trails at a snails pace so i'm in low gear a lot. So far, this thing has been trouble free. It wouldnt crank over one morning, but turns out that was my fault. Forgot to press brake pedal before starting and wasnt all the way in park. Other than that, everything is good.

I also have PDF owners manual for the 800XC, which is the same engine as the Zforce 800 Trail. I gave up on getting a paper copy from my dealer.

Sure go a head. I assume you actually mean service manuals as owner's manuals are free on the CFM web sites. What will probably happen is as soon as CFM is made aware their manual(s) are posted for public download, they will demand we remove them...but before that happens I will download them and save them to my Adobe Cloud account where I can PM people links to download them as I do with all others I have. You could try emailing them one at a time to me. I do have the largest mailboxes Comcast allows. Sometimes I can get them. It's [email protected]

After contacting cfm customer support number, they send me an updated owners manual that covers the midyear model changes in 2022. Only notable differences i seen is the engine /transmission oil separation. It makes the distinction between models built before or after 3-15-2022.
Still interested in a shop manual for this model if anyone on here has a link please DM me. Thanks!

Here is the link you need to understand what happened(also attached the document for you.  The 2022 Zforce 800 has a different engine. Dry Clutch System.

See Link below as it explains everything. Your manual is incorrect. Transmission Fluid under the passenger seat. Oil fill is rear of engine same side as oil plug drain.

Mfg knew in January that every unit made after the 13th had the dry clutch and separate oil/transmission fluid. They did not advise dealers until sept/oct.  The dealer should have sent notification out.
