MB Quarts Speaker: Wire Connectors
« on: June 29, 2022, 01:37:39 AM »
Hello!!

I am super new to the world of SxS and ATV's.  Family just purchased our first machine this month.  2022 ZFORCE 800 EX.   My first project is hooking up an overhead speaker.  I purchased the MB QUART speaker recommended by CFMOTO and others I've seen on YouTube.

I need help on where to connect the power and ground wires.  I have attached a few photos of how they came for reference.  I am not seeing any small terminals to connect the wires to.  Can someone point me in the right direction?  I know where the battery is located and I have also pulled the front storage box to get access to the fuse box if necessary.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Interesting that CFM would recommend an accessory..especially one that requires all it's surplus power. I say that because the yellow wire needs not less then 10 amps of power which typically is the accessory fuse size..which is the save balance of what's left of what the system can put out if everything else is in use. Plus it needs more from the Red wire which they have fused. What size fuse did they supply? Clearly it's power requirements exceed what the system was designed for...however many do use something like it but I'm sure they don't tie it into the harness or through the fuse box other then keyed power to trigger a relay. If it were mine..I would use the accessory circuit "+" (the power supply to the ACC plug) as it is keyed power (only on when the key is on)to trigger a 20 amp relay and have both the RED and the YELLOW get their power from it which will be sourced directly from the battery. You will also want to fuse the line feed with a 20 amp fuse and the yellow with a 10 amp minimum fuse. With this thing's power requirements you will not want to run it without the engine running so no sitting around with the tunes on and no battery charging...otherwise it won't be long before you'll be asking for a jump.

Sounds complicated? It isn't. Piece of cake. Here's a general diagram of the system.

So digging a bit more... Looks like the Polaris has easy access "Terminals" to attached to for items like my speaker. (see attached pic)

Assuming CFMOTO doesn't have anything like this yet??

The yellow wire needs constant power likely for things like memory for pre-sets, clock and remembering Bluetooth connections. that needs to go to battery.

If so, why would it need greater then 10 amps where needs like that are in the Milliamp a range? Says main power so it must power the amps as well. Probably does need constant power so be sure to fuse it straight to the battery...and know this will also increase parasitic draw on the battery. In time may want to consider an extra battery.

Thanks guys!   I think for ease of adding future items, I am going to take a note from Polaris and add my own Terminal Block in an easy access location.   I found a 3 post one on Amazon.   One post hot, one post accessory, one post ground.  Right?

NMKawierider, do you see any issues with doing this?

Don't see why not. Remember to fuse the line from the battery. I assume you will be getting accessory power from your existing acc circuit and ground..from the frame anywhere.
