I've been doing some very in depth research and have found a few things.

Based on the micro-fiches, these engines are almost identical to the BRP/Can-Am 800 found in the maverick and commander.

The obvious differences i've found with them so far are the clutches and the crank shaft. The BRP crank has a tapered keyed end on the PTO side, and ours have a threaded end on the PTO side.

These engines have identical bore & stroke as the BRP Maverick 800 (as well as their 400 who share the same pistons).

I also found that the BRP Commander/Maverick 800 oil filters are identical.

After my K&N air filter took a turd on me and trashed my engine, I'm looking into replacing the pistons with the Wiseco pistons. Either going with the 40030M09200 (1mm over, make it a 824cc) or the 40030M09300 (2mm over, make it an 842cc). I thought about going with the high compression pistons, but I didnt want to have to mess with race fuel, and I also dont feel like dumping $900 into performance cams.

Ordering them today to see if they will fit. I'll keep ya'll posted.

If you have insurance on the sxs, would it cover your issue?

Insurance doesnt cover stuff like this. Luckily warranty is. I did a tear down and found that the airfilter was overwhelmed by a shyte assembly job on CFMoto's part. The airbox wasnt sealed correctly during manufacturing and the intake pipe wasnt tight so it was sucking in sand right from around the rear wheel.

My intake is oval/rectangular and it doesnt look like the elbow that comes off the airbox is really meant to seal around something not round.

I'm trying to figure out a way to possibly re-route the intake or run some sort of snorkel. The current intake routing is not at all suitable for sandy areas. The stock set up will just fail again.

I ended up putting a homemade snorkel for the air intake and the belt exhaust  but left the factory belt intake alone   dose anyone know what the tube on the passenger side is that wraps around to the rear exhaust

I believe if you follow it it goes back to a blower on that side of the engine. It also blows are over the other exhaust too. Not sure why.

Yeah I'm not sure why either but with that I'm sure the seals ain't made to handle to much water and with it being so low I'm gonna try figuring out a way to reroute that also when I get a little more free time but I noticed that cover has vent holes in but I'm sure I'll come up with something

I think your looking at the fan that cools the alternator or the bike version not sure what they are called

My issue is, I'm a dealer... So this is a major issue and design flaw. These are no at all designed for dusty/sandy conditions so now I have to worry about these coming back blown up for the same reason.

So I got the Wiseco pistons in today, and sadly there is a difference. The wrist pin for the BRP is shorter and narrower. The piston otherwise is exactly the same (bore and stroke, size, ect). Im currious now if the rods off the can-am will work (these rods are bolt on as opposed to being pressed on during crank assembly).

I'll try getting some pics up as soon as I can been supper busy with work but im gonna start tearing into it a little more when I can. Just hard to find all the info on these but I'm sure we all get them figured out someday. And this forum is a big help

That is great that the warranty is covering it.
