Lower A arms won't accept grease!
« on: August 20, 2015, 09:35:12 PM »
I have been trying, unsuccessfully to grease my lower A arms, both front and rear, to no avail. I pulled the zerk fittings out to make sure that it wasn't wonky and the grease goes through no problem. Put them back in and....nothing, won't work. I have an appointment with the dealer next Thursday.  I'm kinda wondering what they might do to fix the problem?
I'm going to have them look at adjusting the shift linkage too. If the vehicle is on any sort of angle it is very difficult to shift between R or L or P!
I will keep you posted.

If you didn't get the tires off the ground while greasing, try that. It's hard to say why its not getting through without digging into it.

It's like one of these. You will need it to get the knuckle but the rest can be done with a standard end. DON'T get this one because the zerks are metric and this one won't fit tight enough without applying back pressure to keep it from leaking. Yeah, I bought this one.

Might be easier to change out the fittings with right angle ones.  Does anyone know the thread size of the fittings?

I had the same problem with my new X8, screwed them out as the grease gun had so much pressure where I had been trying to force grease through, put them in the vice to screw the grease gun off and as I was turning them grease came through, both on one side was like this, grease now seems to pump through?
