Lift Kit and Bigger tires
« on: December 13, 2017, 06:58:14 PM »
Ok. I know I’ve asked before. But I am on a mission here.

I put the high clearance a-arms on and the 2” lift kit. Now it looks rather gay!

I want to put bigger tires on was thinking 32” assainators. Now I found some 40” that would look even cooler.  I was told I’d need to do some mods to the drivetrain first.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I don't think even with a lift you can get away with the 32s..maybe...I'm pretty sure the 40s will rub bad up front somewhere. Besides, that 800 just won't have enough "puppies" to turn the 32s let alone the 40s in high range without taking a week to get to ..40mph. Not to mention all the drive system problems you will have like drivelines, CV joints, diffs...clutches.. Just my opinion but I think you might want to look at a set of mean 28-30s

A 2 inch lift and you should be able to fit 30's any bigger I am not sure. If the arched A-arms moved the front wheels forward and rear back you can fit much bigger I am sure.  IMO you could probably do 32" with clutch work. 40's maybe if you only run in low range but that will be a lot of stress on the drivetrain like NMK said you may break more stuff than it is worth, unless you just want it to look cool. I don't know of anyone on here running anything bigger than 30's so you would be the test pilot going bigger and seeing what happens.

Ok I bought the 32” tires. They don’t rub. However I did have to add a portal gear lift to get the added clearance. The performance is lacking heavily now. I’m looking at the commander V dynojet to boost some of the power. Any other thoughts?

Larger tires always extract a heavy price from performance not only due to their added weight but moreover due to the up-gearing of the driveline. NMKawie wasn't kidding when he said, "Besides, that 800 just won't have enough "puppies" to turn the 32s let alone the 40s in high range without taking a week to get to ..40mph". :)  It must be a dawg now.
Now how to get some performance back. (You won't get it all back. 32 inch tires are a huge jump)
The Power Commander won't do anything by itself. Your EFI system is quite efficiently mapped and optimized for the stock cam timing, intake specs and exhaust specs from the maker. Maybe richening the mix in some areas will gain a speck of oomph, but hardly enough to matter. If you slap on more performance enhancing doodads like a cam or a radical obnoxiously loud pipe a PC can optimize for those things and then you gain a bit, at the cost of annoying everyone else.

Clutch reclocking as described on this site will gain you the most you can get but still I don't think there's anything practical you can do to completely reverse the upgearing penalties of 5" taller tires.
Keep us up to speed on how it's going though. Thanks

Have you done any clutch work? If not the thing is gonna really suck. B2 and 23g or 22g sliders and it should move out ok but you wont be power sliding around corners.

from stock I went with 2 inch lift and 29" tires. I went with B2 clutch setting and 24g sliders. I now have about the same power that I did stock, maybe slightly better bottom end. you went an additional 3 inches and I don't know the weight of the tires (which has a lot to do with it) so I think you may be reasonable with B2 setting and 22g or 23g sliders tho it will still not be better than it was stock. big heavy tires rob power as stated above.

B2 is the setting in the clutch you don't have to buy anything. The sliders I think you can get on amazon. There is stuff in the "how to" section for this

Did you ever end up posting pics/video of your ZForce with the portal lifts?  My wife and I are heavily looking in to doing 4" portals on her ZForce 1000.  Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff, what portal did you use and where did you get it?
