Pretty sure its way too small...needs to flow at max 218.95 CF per Minute...and that one's not going to do it.

It’s the same size opening the factory set up had. Not ideal I’m sure but I’m not loosing any power either that I can tell. I’m sure it’ll evolve as time goes on depending on how it continues to work

Ok guys, this is what is on the back of the cab/inside the bed. I assume it's some type of prefilter? What's inside of it. I haven't had time to even go out and open it up or even look at it. Could it be modified? The pic is off of ebay for reference.

Got a couple pics. Appears that the stock grill between the seats is blocked off. I'll try to dig into it tomorrow

May be a dealer mod...but it didn't come from CFM.

Still not the best place to get air. It's a little less dusty and a lot cooler then the OE spot but my first mod was like that except a single 3" port. It still sucked enough dust in to pack my filter in the box in only one ride. Real dusty out there. Mine has evolved a long way sense those days but...that's how we find things out. This was my first mod. Same spot.

I will definitely dig into it. I want to do some type of snorkel and or a spoiler on the roof to blow the dust out of the bed. I've only had it a week and basically no time to even crawl over it but lots of time to think about it and read everyone's posts. Going to try to get it in with my dealer next week to do a complete service. We usually ride alone and don't eat much dust but I want to be proactive on the air filter.

Well I tore into that prefilter. Definitely a dealer add on. It's 2 pieces with a filter inside it. The tube on the back side goes through the bed and connects to the intake tube between the seats. Not pleased with that connection as it wiggles too much and dust can seep through. I am still thinking about doing a snorkel instead of that setup since the hole is already through the bed.

That looks like it would be even more restrictive than the one I made up. What's the diameter of that hole? seems way smaller than what the factory intake has in it.

On another note I had to bring mine to the dealer to have the throttle cable replaced, (warranty). When I picked it up they said they had something to show me, The tube I had made was just sitting in place not adhered anymore. He said it was just in there rattling around. I laughed a little and said I knew it wasn't that way as I had checked on it like most things I make to see how it was doing. They wouldn't admit anything but he did slip up a little when he said the tech removed all the plastic from the interior which tells me he had just banged the tube either taking it apart or putting it back together and broke it free. N big deal really just annoying they couldn't own it. I would give that thing a decent wiggle whenever I was in it to be sure it was holding up. Whatever I guess, was probably going to be modified again anyway eventually. Maybe like you NMK I'll change the whole tube. I think I still like the end being inside with me though. Snorkels are illegal here in Maine. Dumbest law ever

Odey1979 the hole is 2 inch I believe. Goes straight into the plastic intake tube. There is definitely room for improvement. And still think I'm going to snorkel it.
I just mine back from the dealer also. Had them do a full service and go over it from head to toe. Clean bill of health. They offered me to snorkel it for $360!!! I'll do it myself lol

So either the mechanic Knocked it loose and actually wasn't aware of what he'd done until he 'discovered' it loose or...
He knows he knocked it loose and instead of owning up to it he fibbed to the dealer or...
They both know he knocked it off but they want you to think you screwed up and they 'caught it'.
Well they did you a favor. Now you know they'll bullshit you just like they will any other customer who comes in the door. :D  Forewarned is forearmed.

I agree completely, I'm thinking they just want me to assume they did me a favor by catching the issue. Although if i just pull the thing out it would do exactly as it did stock really. Maybe even a little better still since the hole is at least on the front so not sure what they think they're helping me with. Is what it is, over all these guys have been pretty good but then again they dont touch anything unless its warranty.

I saw on a CFMOTO group on FB a guy had a z and the dealer relocated the intake to under the front hood. Any thoughts?
