I was just throwing that out there. I was thinking about the rail or gutter type pieces above the windows on older trucks.

What's your issue with drilling the roll bar? I wouldn't think a tiny hole on each front corner would matter at all on integrity or affect it's function. I drilled each corner and riveted the roof down tight, worked great and looks better than a hose clamp or zip tie.

Actually 1hole each side. Works.great no more branches stuck between the cage and roof.
That's why I love these forums! I had the same thoughts about making or buying brackets and moving the bolt or making a new one on the outer corner, and with so many grown in trails around here and crap getting jammed in there almost every ride, I needed to do something.
What an elegant solution, One hole and a zip tie. Easy, immediate, no haunting the shelves of the local hardware store for re-purposeable brackets, no drilling metal, no parts to buy and wait to arrive, no welding on bracket tabs, painting, waiting for paint to dry before attaching. It's cheap, easy, and easily replaced if needed and plenty strong enough to do the job. I went outside and did it right away, took mere seconds. Can't hardly notice the zip ties. Looks right. (I'd have had no problem holding the corner down and riveting it on either, that's a good solution too)
OK Ok I'm alright, I'll be OK. Just a little pumped, is all. :)
