I know this has been hashed out many time but in this case I'm not talking about brand, I asking about weights.  Is a 20W50 Synthetic JAsO approved oil too thick for a 2020 800 EX?  I know the manual says 10w-40 is the highest for a warm climate but I'm wondering if people have used higher with good results or if that is just too thick for the clearances and oil passages.

Thanks
John

The 50 is too heavy as it not only adds load to the pump increasing the failure rate, but causes the pressure relief valve to have it's spring compressed even farther thus some have found it collapses enough to not shut at idle making the pressure low enough to turn on the oil light. That's below 8psi. Not good. Use 0,5,10 or 15 W40. Just no 50 or 60W. And a 30 is too light for the heat sometimes.
