Doors from Russia?
« on: May 03, 2020, 08:16:07 AM »
I’ve seen the name of the Russian (Rodin) on this forum.  I would like to get some doors (with graphics) for my 2017 zforce 800ex and was wondering if anyone has purchased doors from him and what kind of quality and fitment did you get?  There aren’t a whole lot of choices on line for aftermarket doors, they’re all black and the price isn’t a whole lot different than Rodin’s.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have them on mine. Very good quality and fit. Would buy again. You need to send him an email with photos of your machine. I think he does it a little differently now as far as shipping but can't confirm. His email address is:  nvrodin@mail.ru

Thank you NMK, I appreciate the info.  Don’t want to make a $600+ mistake.

Oh you won't. He only does quality. Make sure he had high quality photos of your Z and that you get photos of the graphics first. You can also design your own graphics if you want as well.

I’ve emailed him to find out what the turn around time is but haven’t heard back. How long did it take for you to get your doors? What year machine did you put them on? We took our machine out for the first time (ever I’m brand new to the sport) and found out that doors are important in keeping some of the dust out. Colorado has no shortage of dust. Compared to my friends who had doors on their machines (Polaris and Teryx) we pretty much looked like dirtbags with smiles on our faces. I think a full windshield and rear window are in our future too. I have the half windshield but that was pretty much like not having one. An aftermarket air filter is on the agenda too.
Thank you for the info. This forum has some knowledgeable people on it and thanks again for the help.

Oh..you should have already had the UniFilter on it. If you are using the OE paper filter...in our dusty SW (I'm in NM), you can expect your engine to be gone in under a thousand miles. Don't go any more without it and use a quality foam filter oil like Maxima Fab-1 and it's cleaner.

Mine is a 2015 800 trail (AKA-53) but the bodys are all the same. Takes about 4 weeks to get to your door. Does help and also the windshields-front and back. I have the SATV flip and solid in the rear. Really like them.

NMK, you have been very helpful with your comments and suggestions. I did take the air filter housing off and accessed the filter. To my benefit it was a Twin Air foam filter that was very oiled up.  When I took it off I found 0 dust in the intake. Pretty happy with that.  My wife and I had a lot more dust on us. 🥴

I’ve been researching doors for my 2017 zforce 800 and have found Rival, Super ATV, Scap and Rodin. They seem to be the ones making aftermarket doors. Rodin and Scap seem to be the only ones with decals. I’d like to match the graphics but it’s not a deal killer.

In your opinion which of these door manufacturers is the best? I’ve read the reviews and nothing is stellar but my wife is on my butt to get doors and “happy wife, happy life” if you get my drift.😂

You seem to be the go to guy on this forum so I’ll pay attention to what you say.

Thanks again.

From what I have heard Scrap-doors would be the very last people I would get doors from. From there its pretty even on complaints and quality until you get to Rodin's doors of which there has been only one...and that was because the owner didn't send high-res or good quality photos so he could match the color, sheen and graphics lines. So IMO Rodin's doors are at the top. The only thing I will say about them at least for me is I wish he would make them a little wider cause I have to tuck my elbow just a bit. Other ten that they are the best quality I could ask for.

Ok.  Kind of thought you might say that. Is there any problem paying him? I’d like to do it by credit card but can do PayPal. Is there anyway I can contact you by phone instead of the forum? I don’t want to plaster my number all over the web.
My email is msrafd@aol.com.  I think that would be safe to trade phone numbers without everybody in the world knowing them. Heads up to you though...I’m no techno wizard.

No need to contact me. It's Rodin you need to email. His email in in his listing under supporting venders. And PayPal is what he uses.

Ok. Thanks.  If you don’t mind I might pick your brain from time to time. I’ve got a lot of questions about the sport and the machine.  First time we went out put a smile on our faces.

I just watched a Russian video of the installation process for putting on the doors.  Do you really have to take off almost half of the side of the machine to install the doors? He did the driver side and removed a lot of that side.

No but it helps. I did not take off the lower rocker plastic but did loosen it enough to get a wrench in there. It was a bitch...but I would do it again. The back section I think I just took out enough pins to get my hands in there.

Ok. I had a vision of bolting them on and getting on with life.  So much for that vision.
Thanks for the heads up.
