There's a pretty good thermo shield under there...I wouldn't think heat would be that noticeable. But...if it was missing...well...:(

Ours may be missing the thermo shield; I don't know, haven't checked it....all I know is that on a cool day, the deck gets warm enough to keep the inside of the boxes we have on the back to where my Wife & Daughter liked putting their hands inside & their food was plenty warm, not hot, as in steaming, but real warm.

Wow..something's wrong. Take the boxes out and the panel...or better yet just take a look up from the engine and see if there is any silver-looking stuff.

I cut two three inch holes in mine today and put vent covers on it helped a bunch but just so u know I have snorkeled mine so I don't have the belt exhaust blowing on pipe do its that much hotter and I didn't notice it as bad until I put a set of doors on my rig but it was really hot so I'm firm believer in this mood and don't forget header wrap helps to

O yeah and on my ride today I put my hand back over one of the holes I drilled and I couldn't believe how much hot air was coming out of it  I also might do two more but for now it's a lot better then b4

I think I might put some header wrap on mine too....I was also mighty impressed with how much heat came out, and just like you; I really recognized it when we put the doors on. In winter/or when it's colder outside, I see no reason why a person couldn't route that heat back into the cabin, & have a heated cabin, to a degree...?

I got up this morning with a thought (yes I know..dangerous). So we cut these holes to let the heat out and that creates better airflow through that area...ok..so hot air out the top and more cooler air in at the bottom...cooler air along with more dust and dirt from the wheels? Not that there is a lot in there that could be effected.. especially if your intake was out of there. We already know what happens to the filter from drawing air from that area. I would be curious if after some dusty rides if someone with these vents would take a look. I may be more inclined to do the wrap first if I thought I had a heat problem.

There's a lot of dirt & dust in there no matter what; on ours anyways. Before I cut the holes, it wasn't just heat coming through, it was a pile of dust, too, once the hole was cut in the back, about 90% of the dust went out through that hole.

I think that the original design sucked, the snorkel just sucked in dust that was there from the tires; I thin that there's pressurized air from the clutch combined with heat, that makes it all want to naturally rise, if there's a legitimate hole somewhere higher, it has a major tendency to follow the easiest route; out the back. If you're going over 10 MPH or so, there's a slight vacuum at the rear of th machine, I think this helps greatly to help pull that hot air/dust out the back end.

I could be wrong....

What do you think about something like this for rear air vents?

2017 Zforce 800 EX
UNI filter, SuperATV high clearance a-arms, half windshield, nerf bars, Windjammer rear window, overhead storage, Bighorns, Bandit suspension Gen3 shocks, rear camera
