clutch kits
« on: March 24, 2021, 10:33:19 AM »
Talked to the dealer, and ofcourse Ive seen tons of feedback here and elsewhere. They typically go with airdam for their clutch mods and instead of reclocking they usually replace the spring. Any feedback on this? worth it or a waste of money? I still run the stock tires for now but will be doing 27's or 28's at some point. I'm looking for more low to mid grunt. I feel like the torque just dives off a little to soon. I also don't need it to do the 70 + I've had it to. Best I've found so far seems to be to go with dr pulley 24x18 sliders in 23g. and reclock to B-2. Is this accurate and how would that do with the stock tires still on it? Waiting for the dealer to get a quote together for the airdam setup. Thanks. 2020 800 trail.

To my knowledge the 800s are still running the wet clutch setup with the old same clutches they always have. That means it takes 30x18 sliders not 24x18. And you will want 24 gram..maybe 23 if you run in altitudes up to about 10,000 feet. Replacing the spring means nothing as there is only one spring for these unless you have one of the old 2013-2016's with the old spring. Clocking is how they change the resistance on all these. B2 is very common for higher loads like 28-30" tires and/or if spending lots of time in deeper mud and snows. However for most with 27s and smaller C1 gives a better backshift and with the lower RPMs it's a hair quieter in the cab. I run heavy 27" 8ply radials and run up to 12K so yes, I do use the 22 gram sliders and am set on B2...but...my hot-rod'n days are over now that the wife and dog come with me so the next time I am in there, she's going back to C1.. and maybe...just maybe..she'll get some 23 or 24 gram sliders to boot.

Ok thats what I thought you might say about the spring. This was the first time I had heard of changing that on these machines. I live more or less at or just above sea level. I do plow snow with it but don't ride much in winter other than that. I'll get into the mud when it presents itself too, however I'd say the majority of my miles are plain jane trails and some bumpy stuff. All terrains are possible and will be explored however. So C-1 keep the spring and 24 gram sounds like a good fit at least for now. I'd like to only do this once. "YA RIGHT". Whats the stock clocking again and the stock sliders are 25 gram correct?
I'm pretty sure I saw the 24x18 thing on redneck garages video. Should probably verify that before saying that though huh lol

I think he was talking about his 500 which is different...no wet clutch. Yeah the 800s come with 25 gram rollers so 24 gram Dr Pulley sliders would be great..and even 23 gram but you will be running about 7-800 rpms higher then with the 25s. Just be ready for that. Closer in the power band though.

Here a link to Scooter Assassin's 23gram. Send them a message asking about the 24gram. I know they still have them. I buy mine from these guys.

Great info thanks. I did look into it and I was mistaken. Pays to pay attention sometimes right lol. 7-800 rpm sounds like a huge jump so maybe I'll pass on those. Don't wanna run outa steam to soon either. Just a happy medium, I do understand it is only an 800 after all

May be a little less.. but the 24s are about 3-400 over stock. My 22s are almost 1K higher. Still plenty of steam. :) As long as the clutches get full shiftout before it hits the RPM limiter, your OK.

Ok so with your 22's whats your new top speed? I'll hit 50-55 pretty frequently and Id like it to not be screaming for mercy doing that. If I could keep top somewhere around oh say 60-65 that would be good I think

The lowest I ride is close to my house on our west mesa which is still about 5500 feet. With the windshields on and the 27s mine does not have enough power to reach the RPM limiter on a flat road and peaks-out about 62.The resistance plus the power loss at this altitude just won't allow it. Now without the resistance of the windshields (front and back) I can hit the limiter at about 66 but still get full clutch shiftout at about 58mph. But for you...at your elevation, you won't loose that 18-20% power like we do up here...you won't also need...or want the 22gram as it will put your RPM over the power and torque bands. Stay with the 24s or 23s..no less. The goal is to stay at.. or slightly under the power band..never over it....unless you are a pro hill climber where you want to start just over and let the increasing load settle you into it and hold you there.

Ok so looking at the sliders on ebay from scooter assassins like you said. the listing calls them out as 30x18 24G Dr Pulley Rollers for CF Moto terralander 800. Just want to be sure this is the right thing as it doesnt mention the zforce on there. It did come up with the search for zforce 800 dr. pulley sliders though. These are the same thing correct?
