So I am pretty new to the whole cvt reclocking, belt changing and cleaning the sheaves.  So in the past month or so I went up in tires, reclocked the clutch and cleaned the sheaves with 3000 grit pad.  Now I have slippage.  Lesson learnt.  Do not polish the sheaves that much.

Yep. Hard for people to realize that every scratch is a zone of non-contact. Get enough and it will slip. Like the drag strip, all the sticky rubber you can on the contact patch...and that contact patch is smooth as a baby's butt. Nobody puts knobbies on a pavement dragster to get more traction..lol

Good to know, I would have thought 3000 grit wouldn't have hurt the sheaves any. I guess either brake cleaner or Acetone is used to clean ?

The good news is they re-polish themselves or help with some auto polishing compound but..you must get all the film off. I just use light pressure on a scotchbrite pad and yes, acetone on a very clean cloth or paper towel afterwards. You can also use the scotchbrite pad on the sides of the belt along with a quick wiping of acetone to break the glaze.
The other thing to make sure of is that you did preload the spring and they are set on the ramps. If not you will have almost no preload and the belt will slip no matter what. Also that the belt hasn't stretched or warn to outside the specs..width and length. That will also allow them to slip as well. Yeah..3K grit w/d shouldn't have allowed to loose more then 10-15% of the surface area so...something else may be happening.
