Hello Everyone - new to the forum and CF Moto Scene.
I have an 800ex that blew a clutch belt last fall and the shop took forever to repair it.
When i got it back from the shop the left speaker wire (behind the driver) was spliced and my light bar wasn't plugged back in.
I fixed the speaker wire and plugged the light bar back in but it wouldnt work. Found out the relay is shot so going to get a new one, however, not sure why any of that would have been touched for a clutch job and they swear they tested all of that before returning the sxs, but obviously not.
Anyways, i have those two items fixed and now i have a starting/stopping issue.
It was cold one night and i put the key in and tried to turn it on. It wouldn't turn easily and I forced it a little and it turned on right away (this was in feb.) I didn't have any issues for about a month. Then i was going to go for a ride and when to turn it on and nothing would turn on. The battery was dead. So i charged the battery and went to turn it back on, the dash turned on but it wouldn't turn over. I can hear the fuel pump kick on and some faint clicking noise from behind the glove box in the hood area. I found all the relays under there and they all appear to work properly.
So i called the shop, they claim that this is all my fault (which it could be since i turned the key and maybe ruined the ignition) But they suggested i buy a new battery, the battery might be shot and not powerful enough to engage the starter solenoid?
BUT here is the kicker. All the lights and dash turns on (no engine start because it wont) and when i turn the key off and take it out all the lights and dash stay on. Is this a battery issue or key switch/ignition?
Sorry if i am in the wrong section
