battery keeps gpoing dead
« on: August 28, 2024, 10:45:12 AM »
I just bought a 2018 Zforce 800 trail it has 514 kms on it. The guy I bought it from just replaced the battery. If it sits for 24 hours it will barely turn over. Once you get it started and run it for 5 minutes it is good for the day. My wife left the key on for 5 minutes the 2nd day we had it and it barely started. Any ideas on where the draw might be.

The first thing to do is load test that battery. Charge it completely first. Parasitic loads or drains on the CFMotos is much higher then with others but you should get over two weeks before the voltage is low enough to notice. The #1 cause for these issues is a battery problem..new or not. If the load test shows all is good you will want to find out what the Parasitic load is so you will need a good multi-meter. Plenty of YT videos on how to do it and locate where the extra is.Also test the charging system as it may have a problem. The best advise I can also give is always keep your battery on a maintainer or smart charger when not in use...always...and check the water/acid levels every two years. Refill with distilled water when needed.

I'm having the same issue, I can charge the battery but in my opinion the bike should be charging the battery. Makes me nervous to go far like this.

I can charge mine to full charge, drive it for 15 or 20 minutes come back put the charger on it and it says it's at 80% - Not a great feeling.

First noted the issue second time I drove it, stopped on the trail to do a uturn. Suddenly I had zero throttle response, then I shut it off and click click click. miles from home.

Going to buy a new battery for this thing and it better not let me down again or CFMoto won't like me much. 2 year old bike with a charging issue

You better get the charging system checked. Likely has a bad stator or rectifier. Charge that battery then have it load tested too. It might be OK.

My 22 has a voltage reading in the display. Does the 23?  What does it read when running?  12v systems should read close to 13.6 volts with the engine running.

As a side note, lead acid batteries really like being fully charged.  Anything less than 12.6 volts with the engine off is an insult to the battery.  A battery maintainer will extend the life of batteries, especially power sport type.
