Not good. Hope it isn't...as bad as it probably sounds.

I think the first thing I'm going to do is drain the engine oil and check for any metal, it seems to be a odd one, under engine braking the noise completely disappears as soon as the throttle is pressed it's back, it sounds bad enough to be big end failure but the engine has oil pressure and starts ok.
It's not a constant nocking but more like something has come loose, I have a thought it could be the wet clutch or the one way bearing.

check to see if the nut on the cam plate came loose or if may be in the wet clutch.  I  am leaning more towards the wet clutch.  Maybe a spring broke in there.
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.

Thanks guy's, I hope it's not going to be an engine out job, the engine still sounds good and the oil light goes off just after starting, defiantly sounds like something rattling around.

Will have a look at her tomorrow, it's a shame because I've just got most of the annoying things ironed out  ;)

I have metallic oil, very fine but no big bit's, cvt cover is off all nut's are tight and nothing bad in there to report, so deeper I must go :(

Nothing wrong with the wet clutch or one way bearing, I'm going to remove a cylinder to have a look, but I'm Sure the engine will be coming out very soon for a rebuild.

I have removed the front cylinder and as far as I can see it's the big end on the rear cylinder that has gone

If there is metallic flakes in the pleats of the filter than I would think a bearing has failed. I'm sorry to say I think your in for some work.

Engine is out on the bench and dismantling has started, she has suffered a big end failure on the rear cylinder :(

Here we call them either "Top End" or "Bottom End" so "Big End" is new to us. Any photos of what failed?

On FB he's talking about rod inserts having lots of play so..bottom end I'd guess.

Over here in the Uk top end normally refers to piston, cylinder and head, bottom end would be crank case and crank shaft, small end is the piston end of the con rod and the big end is the crank end ;)
