I've searched the forum and didn't find anything on this so ....

I've been thinking of having my accessory outlet live all the time rather than switched with the ignition. I have a couple of reasons for this, but before I decide on that, or adding another outlet all together, I thought I would check and see if anyone has made this change and if it was easy/straight forward or worth avoiding.

I put one in the console for powering my GoPro. Then I added to that circuit my helper CVT fan so I can run it with the engine off if needed. I just ran a fused power from the battery to it.. then the ground back to the battery cause it was close. I did just change it out from the standard cigarette-lighter type to a dual USB but.. Just remember if you leave something plugged in, it will run the battery down in time.
