Hi everyone,

I've been having a look around so thought I'd join and say hello. I've had a 500es quad for several trouble free years and the dealer gave me a good P/X so a new Z8 arrived yesterday. It will do some light trailer garden work and some fun in the garden too - so it will likely only ever run on mown grass - I expect it to have a pretty soft life!

Obviously it's brand new - 16 miles - I know there's obviously a sensible approach to take to start with, and I am being gentle. It's certainly not as quick as I know it will/should be, and I'm happy to take it easy for now.

It there a physical restriction on the throttle pedal - I notice one screw that looks like it is stopping the pedal early? If not, are they restricted in any way that can be sorted DIY?

I've just used 2WD for the moment, but switched to 4WD for a test and it was clunky - I put everything down at the moment (e.g., gear selection very tight) to the fact it is so new.

Anyway, thanks for all the useful info on here, I look forward to some fun, my son is beside himself....

Cheers

Welcome. Well, I might have picked a U-Force for yard work over a Z-Force but I guess it's all a matter of taste and the deal one gets at the dealership...lol. There is a throttle stop and some have said its set so you can't give it full throttle during break-in but most from the factory are not set that way...some dealers do this. Unless you know how to set it without over-pulling the throttle body, I would let the dealer do it. The Z is a sport machine so don't be too easy on it during breakin..it needs to stretch it's legs and be run like it was built for.

The 4WD will work smoother as the differential parts break in...which for you may take several years....if ever. :)

Welcome to the site and the Z8 club.  Yes the throttle pedal does have a stop built in.  You may want to look at adjusting that to get wide open throttle.  The 4wd style on these is good (I like the full diff lock) but it is noisy.  I dont know of anyone who has had a real problem with it.  Its just louder than some others.  Post up some pictures when you get a chance as we all like to see pictures here!

The shifting on these (or at least mine) can be quite tough especially if the drivetrain is loaded up. A couple tricks that will help greatly. If you stop on a hill, set the parking brake before you put it in park, then take it out of park before releasing the parking brake. When you go to shift from reverse to forward or high to low, low to high do it while the machine is still slightly moving and the wheels are just barely turning and I do me JUST BARELY, you will get a feel for it and it shifts quite freely if you do this.

Thanks all. Yes I thought I saw a screw on the pedal that looked like it was a stop. X8 was an option but for the kids I felt this was a safer option.

Looking forward to giving it a run soon!

Cheers

You could in 2014 because that is what I have and am in the US.  You can order those plastics also and they go right on a 2017

Looks Sharp, same color scheme as my '15
No reflectors I see, mine was like that for a while when the pressure washer blew them off. lol
Added white to the front and red to the back.
Welcome to the group!! And I did back that screw up just a bit, seems to have made a difference. Id like to go a lil further with it but.......thinking I better leave well enough alone.

I would suggest you back it off enough to make sure you are getting wide open throttle as you should be.

Thanks - I was offered Black or Red over the phone - I had no idea what it would look like. I think the roll cage definitely needs to finish further behind - I notice someone on here has done a good job of that mod.

Does anyone recommend an insurance co in the UK for road use?

Thanks all
