Adding eps to 2014 Z8
« on: September 23, 2015, 04:41:31 PM »
I'm new to the board my name is Denny,   I have found a lot of good info here but can't find much on people adding eps to 2014 Z8,  what brands,  prices,  details on install,  pros and cons... Thank you in advance

I don't know about the Z8, mine came with EPS. I added a Super ATV EPS system to my brother's Teryx. It was pretty easy. It only took me 2or3 hours. It would have  taken a lot less, but one of the welded on nuts on the Teryx frame had broken loose, so that I couldn't get the steering column completely loose. That made it tough to work around. The system itself was pretty easy. I found a video on youtube and then read the directions good. It was simple and straight forward.

It may be easier to buy a factory Z8 EPS system to add. I'd talk to the dealer about it if it were me.

I'm a dealer, and have asked about an EPS kit for the non-EPS models. Currently they do NOT have one.

one member on here has stated the SUperATV steering rack for a 2009+ Polaris RZR 800 will work on these, and the SuperATV power steering kit for that same models looks a LOT like the parts that are on ours. I would feel pretty comfortable with saying that EPS kit would work.

I used super atv rack for a 800s and universal powersteering kit, just fab a quick bracket for the motor.
Have also used wicked built racks,
Rack you will need to drill one new hole on the bracket & chop a bit off the tie rods, about a 6hr job for the complete install, motor and new rack.
I took the bigger motor I think was like 230w something like that.

Even though CF Moto does not make a kit, couldn't you just buy all the separate parts from them?

Ill have to get some more clarification from them on what is included in these different part numbers.

First let me explain that, at the moment, I have my unit torn down while I wait for my rebuild parts to show up. When i installed the bluetooth radio and turn signals on my ZForce 800, I found that the unit seems to be pre-wired for the EPS kit.

With that being said, there are a few different part numbers listed in the break downs for the ZForce 800.

7000-103000 EPS KITS       $682.08

Further down,  right at about the bottom of the break down for the steering system, it shows this:
7030-106200 EPS ASSY      $353.10

You would also need:
7030-150800 EPS CONTROLLER  $245.0

I've asked before about them having a kit and was told no, but the break down seems to tell differently. Ill ask and hopefully get some clarification.

Sounds like it would be cheaper to get a Super ATV kit, if they have one to fit. I don't remember what my brother paid for his. It seems to work good and appears to be good quality.

Which kit did you use and how much modification did you need to do?

Em,

Did the universal require anything special other than the mount?

They sent me an email back, and this was their reply:
"Emerson,

Any non-power steering unit CANNOT be converted to power steering."

But that just doesnt seem right. I've found, on my unit at least, all the plugs are there. I've compared mine to a unit with it, and have found the plugs from the harness ARE there. The mounting plate on the chassis, is there. The steering components (other than the obvious ones like linkage) are different. They didnt explain what the difference between the one that actually says "kit" and the one that doesnt. I would think one CAN be converted using CFMoto parts. Hell, even the RZR 800 EPS system looks pretty darn close. If you look at the micro fiche of the frames and compare the two they look really close in the front.

Will it hurt to have the parts in stock if they don't work out? You might have to sit on them for a while but I would think eventually they will sell.

thank you all for the replies,  so from super ATV I would need a rack for a rzr 800 and the universal EPs kit correct?

You need a rack for a 800S as the standard 800 is to short, you will need to trim down the tie rods .
The powersteering unit you can use the universal orr 800 and 800s kit.
You will need to make your own bracket to hold the motor.
Go look at a 800 with eps and copy the bracket.
