2023 800 Trial bogs down
« on: May 26, 2025, 04:41:05 PM »
Normal driving around is perfect.  When I drive it hard with a lot of throttle, then back off to slow down, and then try to punch it again, the engine seems to hesitate a bit then it kicks in.  Wondering if this a typical when dropping down from high rpm and braking hard, to kicking it in again.

Mine acted that way when the fuel tank check valve got stuck shut and the pump would make a vacuum in the tank that the pump had to fight...which dropped pressure and volume. Crack the gas cap do it can get some air and try it. If the problem goes away....you have your answer.

I just saw a response that says CFMOTO has a fix for it.  Something to sdo with the air filter  pipe collapsing at high rpm.  Cant find the response now!

Dealer knows nothing about the intake pipe collapsing but did mention that the throttle electronics do cause some delay if there is large quick swings in RPMS.  I am launching fast then brake hard for corners then back into the throttle.  That is when there is a delay before the engine kicks up the rpm again.

I think I figured it out why the 800 trail hesitates after hard braking and then getting back on the throttle.  I understand there is a brake switch that is installed into the brake master cylinder that cuts out the engine Fuel delivery when braking hard then jumping back in the throttle.  It is only for a couple seconds but very noticable if you drive with left foot on the brake and right on the gas in tight spaces. Supposed to be a safty feature.

Who told you this? There is a switch related with to brake fluid pressure but it is only for brake lights. Has nothing to do with fuel delivery...as far as I know.

If it's a faulty brake safety limiter switch....you can troubleshoot it to see if it's the issue by simply finding the pigtail connection inside the front left wheel well near where the brake pedal housing comes thru the firewall....should be either a gray or white colored plug. Simply unplug it and run the machine. Press the gas pedal and  brake pedal simultaneously and take note whether the machine cuts out. If it doesnt then you know you've unplugged the correct pigtail. Next...drive the machine normal ro see if your initial issue persists.

I am reading conflicting posts on whether 800 g2 has a brake limiting switch that affects throttle response.  I will disconnect it and test the hard braking/acceleration response.  I saw something else that said while in Low gear there is such a limitation. I can definitely recreate the issue by hard brake the get on it.  It’s like, push the pedal then a second or two it kicks in

I read...and hear from others that the first electronic throttle modules had several problems. One being a delayed reaction. You might see if this is possible with your 23.

Called two Dealers.  One knew nothing and he called CFmoto USA Service contact.  Knew nothing.
Second dealer knew right off that there is a ECU function that controls the throttle and will delay if you are left foot braking and right foot hitting the throttle.  Designed to not provide throttle until braking signal has cycled through ECU.  Sounds exactly as to what is happening and says he gets the question all the time if there is a way around it.  There is not a work around.  So I guess I slow down!!  Thanks

Well that sucks...and in fact, my damn 2011 F350 6.7 does the exact same thing and I hate it. I have to drive it differently then I do anything else. Before I changed how I drove it it made me feel this way..lol.
