2023 800 g2 trail vs 950 trail
« on: August 29, 2023, 11:22:30 AM »
Hey everyone looking into buying 2 zforce trails in the comming bit

I'm 6'4 300 and iv driven the 500 trails little tight but I have seen a bunch of mods that will fix that

My wife is 5'4  so no issues there

We have been looking at the 800 g2 trail and now I have been looking at the 950 trail

With a price difference of almost 4k
I'm wondering what is the difference between them other than 10ish hp

Or should I get the 800 for the wife and 950 for me due to my larger size

I'd love to get in both and do a test drive and see for my self but I don't know of any dealers in the gta ontario that will do test drives

Any help would be great

Not sure how helpful this will be but ...

I'm 5'8" and have the G2 800 Trail. The wheelbase and width of the G2 800 and G2 950 are the same, although I've seen others report they "felt" there was more room in the 950.  Not sure where or how they might be feeling that extra room.

Sitting in the driver's seat I feel my feet are not quite touching the pedals and I have to slide the seat forward.  There's about 4-5" of movement in the driver's side seat; the passenger side seat is fixed. Sitting on the passenger side my feet don't reach the firewall bulkhead.

So other than price, more HP and a slightly higher top-end speed it doesn't seem (to me) that there's very much difference between the G2 800 Trail and the G2 950 Trail.  In the G2 models at least, they are both built pretty much using the same components from what I can tell looking at the Service Manual.  As a gearhead friend of mine pointed out, the engine difference is probably just using a bigger bore or longer stroke on the 950 Sport and Trail.

I'm 5'6", 216lbs. I sat in a G2 Zforce 800 trail at my local dealer. It was roomy, but I could barely see over the steering wheel. I'd need roughly 4" of lift on the seat to see better.

As bobinmurphy stated, the only difference I can tell between the G2 800 trail & 950 trail is horsepower & color selection. I focus on torque as all the gear I carry adds up to nearly the weight of my 2022 Zforce 800 trail. If I were to buy a G2, I would be ok with the 800 trail as the rated torque difference between the two machines is minimal.

It may be too late but here's my 2 cents on the new 2023 G2's.
I'm 6'-2" 330lb.
I test drove a 2022 800 Trail and it was way to small and uncomfortable even on the short test drive.
I then test drove a 2023 800 Trail. Way, way, way better. Lots more room and extremely comfortable.
We bought a 2023 950 Trail because it has a bigger engine and a slightly better suspension.
The difference between the 2023 G2 Trails and the Sport is width. The Trail is 50" and the Sport is 60" wide. They both have the same frame & body. The Sport gets wider mud guards over the wheels and longer A-arms which pushes the wheels out and the frame up. This gives the Sport noticeably better stability and 2" of extra ground clearance. The doors on the Sport are also different. They 'bow' outward a little which gives you more room side to side.

We are very very happy with our 2023 950 Trail.
Hope this helps.

I have a 2023 800 Trail and I now wish I had gone with the 2023 950 Sport.  Reason is even thugh the tire width is 50" the unit is 54 1/2 inch wide.  Now you can remove the fender flairs (which I did to ride a 50" trail) and get back to 50" overall width but then you have the wheels outside of the fenders somewhat.  Just my opinion.
As far as the 800 vs 950 trail as mentioned before all you get is more HP no extra width or length.

I bought the 950 trail for the suspension. The 800 just sitting on springs, and rides just like my Polaris 800, does not articulate that well. The 950 feels like my 900 s Polaris, handles the trail like a boss. Go with the 950 if you want to stay 50 inch like I did. If width is not a issue like it is for me, I love the way I can keep it in my truck bed and not drag around a trailer, go with the Sport.
