2020 800 Zforce with Blown Motor....
« on: March 09, 2024, 02:25:30 PM »
Hello all, JJ here from Pittsburgh.

At the end of last summer I blew my motor towing and overheating, total mistake on my part.

I am debating rebuilding the motor, sending it out or just purchasing a replacement.

Has anyone heard of the replacements being hard to come by. Being told my part number in 0800-N5A000-084M, which is 18 and newer replacement. Does that mean that is possible that I will get the dry clutch with plastic cover? or the OEM steel cover wet clutch model?

Also, are the ebay Chinese rebuild kits worth it? I have only heard of one other person from the FB group I am on using one of them.

Looking for options!!

THX

As far as I know, all the 800s in the Z Forces from 2014-January 2023 have the wet clutch setup. After that they went to the new case design and dropped the wet clutch. IF..it were mine, I would look to nFlow to re-manufacture the existing engine unless the case is damaged from throwing a rod. It will be better then new when it gets back and have a better warranty. You just do the R&R.

Thanks for the feedback. I reached out to nFlow.....they are no longer rebuilding CF Moto engines, just replacing with new.

I purchased a used broken & damaged ZForce 800 last September. I've had to take the motor apart twice due to transmission and drive bezel gears being busted from misuse.

It's not that hard to rebuild the engine. It is a pain to get the motor out due to having to take the cab and rear plastics off.

All parts are available via ebay or aliexpress.

I have a service manual if you need it.

maddvector...did you have to do any rebuilding of the crank, conrod, bearings, etc?

If you did what parts source did you use? One of the Ebay kits or CF Moto parts?

I have a 2022. Mysteriously lost oil via air breather. Lost power and wouldn’t start. I was told that the wet clutch was prob shot too. They are insisting $5k to put in new engine. That’s tax and all. Not sure what to do with it. I wanted to start my own thread but can’t seem to find the button.

That's a bummer. So new to loose an engine. Maybe another shop could rebuild it with just the necessary parts for less. Problem is..finding that shop.

I just finished replacing my 2019 trail engine with The NFlow engine. This machine is again fun. The price, no frieght charge plus keep the core,  was very competitive with other new engine sellers. Complete engine, with engine and transmission full of oil, two dip sticks. Seems to me that the engine was bench tested. No one-way, wet clutch bearing to puke any longer. I was working on my second wet bearing replacement, when the engine started burning oil at a rate of 2.2 ozs per hour of run time. All of this at 9,237 miles, 776 hours.
This Gen 2 engine is a much better version, IMHO
