2019 Zforce 800ex motor dieing issue?
« on: January 17, 2020, 01:02:17 AM »
Just recently bought a 2019 800ex and have only rode it for about 6 times and have experienced the motor dieing like the kill switch has been hit on last 4 rides.  Every time it's been after getting in a bind and needing to reverse out, restarts fine though.  Not even 13 hours on it but every time it's happened it's been in bad situations.  Also have Oil Pressure light blinking two different times but not at the same times as the dieing.  Took it back to dealer and all they tell me is CF Moto is sending ECU update and new Oil Pressure sensor.   Anyone else have similar problems and fixes?

I can say although mine has never had a blinking oil pressure light, it has had an issue with it just dying sometimes when I put it into reverse and just touch the gas. It always starts right back up. I will also say when I checked things out I found that my air temp sensor..AKA mass air flow sensor was covered with air filter oil. I cleaned it with the proper cleaner and it quit doing it...and that makes no sense to me...but it did. And when it started doing it again I found it covered with oil again...cleaned it and yes..it stopped..again. Now after I clean the filter in the box(I have two) I use a better quality foam filter oil, Fab-1, and roll-up a paper towel inside it to get any exta that might be there. Haven't have the issue sense.

That sensor being covered with oil shouldn't kill it like that and it's probably more the TPS and/or ECU mapping but...cleaning it works for mine.

The dealer called me yesterday to let me know they found water in my fuel tank.  Not cool.  He sent me a pic and sure enough there it was.  They said that  sometimes the seal around fuel pump is not tight enough from factory and allows water to seep in the fuel tank.  I had zero contact with water when it first started dieing on me, but after my last ride i got it pretty muddy and hosed it down.  So now they will clean system out and fix the leak and hopefully that cures it. Will know more this Tuesday.

Yep...that'll do it. :)

That also means the fuel filter is full of water. Make sure they replace it.

Got back from dealer with my sxs from getting fuel system cleaned out due to w as ter in tank.  And once home barely could get it to start.  It would spit and sputter then die.  I looked under the passenger seat at the fuel pump and there it was.  Fuel pump was turned where hoses were out of place and on top was wet muddy sludge.  I reached over to the collar that holds the fuel pump in place and the collar was loose and the fuel pump you could move around with one hand.  So no doubt I have more crap and water in fuel system and this is what the dealer supposed to have fixed.  Not a happy camper right now.  They left my machine outside in the rain with it like that and supposedly checked fuel pump seal.  Dont know how it started but after the ride home it runs like crap.  Dealer closed on Monday so I have to wait till tuesday to blow up.  Just Crazy.  And the cherry on top was when I looked closer to passenger seat and there was one of my side decals stuck on my seat.  No lie, feel like I'm being punked by dealer service dpt.

That is just sad, good dealers are hard to find for both consumer & the manufacturer. Myself I've given up on the brand, they will have difficulty attracting & keeping good dealers.

I've had those fuel modules out on a couple of occasions due to leaks & fuel smell when filled to top. I can easily see water leaking in if the fuel can get out  :) My comment is the rubber seal is very difficult to keep in place when installing the fuel module, myself I rigged a pressure gauge to the vent line to insure no leaks.

I would be so pissed-off. There's still water in the system.. for sure after the pump. And the retainer ring also looks broken. Someone should be fired for this.

Probably won't help NMK, probably reflects the dealership overall, it is top down approach & service is the necessary evil........sell sell sell  ::)

Also the OP's comment about the OPS flashing, maybe another shitty chinese sensor. Then again maybe not  :( this is critical engine monitoring & they don't care.

I have a question. Has anyone noticed a loud whinning sound when under throttle or letting off. The sound is almost deafening when you are riding. The dealership said that is common on the 800.  I tried to explain to them that it feels like a bearing going out or belt loose. Sound like a flapping sound when you let off the throttle. It really is annoying and I think it feels like something might break. The machine performs great otherwise. Just curious if anyone has noticed

Not on mine but when it was new it had this sound that my brain said "she's coming apart!" and it was just the heat shield against the exhaust springs.

On yours, does it do it standing still in neutral giving it gas or only when moving? How about in low range? Have you check the diff fluids for metal?

I can try that. Never gave it thought about making that noise in neutral. It get really load between 30 mph and 40 mph. So not sure what is going on. Machine works great otherwise. Almost 800 miles and no issues. I did get a uline filter to change in and out after every ride
