2018 Z FORCE 800 TRAIL DISPLAY
« on: July 01, 2024, 11:38:49 AM »
I recently installed a new battery in my 800 trail and the next day noticed the display on the dash lit up as well as the indicator switches on the dash even though the ignition was off and the key was out. I thought maybe I had installed a battery wire incorrectly so I went back through them and all are correct. I did notice the lights go out on the switches but the LCD display will stay on when you disengage the 4wd button. Anyone else experience this problem and if so what did you find was the cause? No previous issues whatsoever until the new battery install. Your help is appreciated greatly!

I would take another look at the battery wiring. On the 14s-17s there is one positive wire that falls back behind the battery when removed that many forget..or just don't see. Some of your systems are being powered with the key off which means the key switch is being bypassed somehow. Was there ever a time when the key was on but the battery was dead and a jumper was used while the key was on? If so, look to burned internal contacts in the key switch.

Thanks, I will look at the battery wiring one more time and then go to the ignition switch from there.
Fingers crossed!
