I hear what you’re saying. When I had both  side covers off the engine I was thinking about that pick up. But to get to it you have to split the engine? It should be made more accessible

Yeah looking at it the 22 Dry clutch case looks like you can either get to it from the outside as the cover has a gasket but the wet clutch version, like mine, is another story. Still...I think I only need to take off the left cover to get to it..have to look closer.

Well, was going to go for a ride tomorrow but the oil press light is constantly flashing again at idle. Goes out as rpm increases but I don’t want to chance it. Still runs great, no ticking or clattering from anywhere in the engine. I do have the wet clutch 800 like you do NMK. From the diagram it looks like the oil pick up screen is on the inside of the crank case half. I did look for it when I had both outer covers off. Man it would be nice to clean the damn thing.

After reviewing the manual again it does look like the case has to be split to clean that strainer...something that can't be done without a full rebuild. So..mine sure isn't getting any such cleaning anytime soon. But also from what I have seen these screens/strainers are very course and it would take a lot to slow oil from passing through. I have to ask...when you replaced the oil pump parts, did you also take all the measurements on the rotor and gears..and end cap? And if so were any close or maybe outside the range? I'm asking because if you think about it...the oil pump is pumping its lowest volume at idle and far more at higher RPMs so if that strainer were plugged it should have an oil pressure drop are higher RPMs not low like at idle. Having it low at idle is more in line with a problem with the pump itself or the system inability to hold pressure...such as loose rod bearings. And I know you checked the relief spring's length..but it can be a little over..not under the listed length. Could it be stretched a hair just for GP? You also said the pressure isn't stable..more erratic. Something that relates back to the pump or relief as well.

I did check the clearances of the pump rotors, they were good. I did replace the cap as well. I did replace the pressure relief as a whole unit, I never pulled the snap ring and checked spring length. I got my oil pressure gauge today and the installation is almost complete. I think I’m done messing with this thing, hopefully if there is a major problem the dealer will have mercy on me lol I’ll take it in next week and report back what they find. Thanks for all your help Clark!

Update on low oil pressure:
The dealer has had the machine for a few weeks now. They pulled the engine and dissembled it, Upon CF motos request.  they found the Center gasket had a large piece missing from it that guides the oil to different places in the bottom end. ( as explained to me) the whole engine is full of scoring. It’s getting a full rebuild, no crate engines available right now. I’m happy CF moto is standing behind it and I found a great dealer! Not the original where I bought it but another shop owned by the same company but closer to where I live. Hopefully get it back by late next week.

At least they found the issue and are going to fix it. Thanks for the update.
