Service Manuals? Does anyone have one?
« on: February 22, 2023, 12:06:41 AM »
I recently picked up a lightly used 700cl-x and have been searching all over the internet to get a service manual. I know that CFmoto makes service manuals for ATVs and a few motorcycles but I couldn't find anything for this. Does anyone actually have one or do they not exist. If they do exist where should I be looking for them because I'm very lost.

As you can see there's little information because they're just too new and not a lot of owners of the Sport or Heritage are posting here. Not helping greatly are most of the YouTube videos that are either by reviewers or local dealers with a bunch of European, Asian, and South American/Mexican owners with no subtitles.

I got my Heritage on October 14th and am on my 2nd set of Pirellis as I just hit 6,023miles over 144.9 hours with an average speed of 44.4mph on mostly back country winding twisty roads of the southeast Catskills portion of the Appalachian Mountains here in the Upstate Mid-Hudson & Capital Region of New York State.

You can find plenty of diagrams from this site which is a bit of a pain because they have parts for quads and side by sides mixed in. You're better off hitting the pull down menu on the left for SELECT CATEGORY subsections unless you want to go through all 73 pages

There is a known issue regarding the Gear Indicator on the Speedometer Gauge where it will flash from 1 to 6. The few comments found about it on the web don't go into too many detail. I had the Transmission Gear Sensor changed by my local dealer under the 2 Year Unlimited Warranty but it is not resolved and a new problem popped up that I am in the process of detailing in a longer but coherent post here for later tonight or tomorrow night EST.

This video was posted on youtube 5 months ago showing the process of him changing the Reverse Gear Sensor that his dealer did not cover under warranty which adds to the confusion and frustration.

I've got about 40 very short videos most under a minute of mileage updates, with some 2-5 minute ones giving information received from my dealer, CFMOTO, the mirrors I replaced and some of the gear I use. https://www.youtube.com/@700clx2/videos

At your earliest convenience you should load Google Maps or any other Speedometer app on your phone to find out how fast you're really going! My speedo is off by 1-3mph up to 45mph and it might save you some speeding tickets!! I also learned that I have not been pulled over by NYS Troopers on I-87 with the Cruise Control set at 80mph because I was only doing 75mph. That also assured me that the cars and trucks passing me were not doing 90mph as I thought. You're usually pretty safe within 10-15mph over the posted limit up here. Of course I didn't have the app open when the opportunity presented itself to hit 103 on the speedometer before I ran out of straight road but I definitely had a lot of RPMs left before redline! I can't imagine how much better the tuning on your Sport. I only got the heritage for the upright seating due to a bad hip.

Obviously I don’t know where you're located, if you're a new rider, or if you’re in the market, and there's no hidden code here so I receive zero discount or credit from them but I can recommend Refrigiwear. They are a company in Georgia catering to outdoor and indoor cold climate workers like slaughterhouses, freezers, food warehouses, fulfillment centers and the like. All of their products have clearly posted working temperatures and they even have a line of gear that’s made here in the States. They almost always have some 20% off codes on the site and they don’t charge for returns! I started by buying multiple sizes and sending back the ones that didn’t fit! I personally bought these, which are killer! They happened to do a live show last night with a 25% off code PFLIVE that's good for a few days.

https://refrigiwear.com/product/insulated-diamond-quilted-jacket/ This is super thin and fits under my armored leather jacket. It’s been good down to 27° for 2 hours.
https://refrigiwear.com/product/extreme-sweater-jacket/ This fuzzy thing is also thin and pretty darn close to waterproof and I keep it strapped to rear seat as there’s no available accessories for our bikes yet.
https://refrigiwear.com/product/base-layer-bottom/ These have worked alone under regular jeans down to the mid 40°s for 3 hours.

One other thing I can share is that since a new Cycle Gear store opened in Albany so I’ve fully taken advantage of the 90 mile ride and their 90 day unlimited return deal so I bought, tested, and returned a lot of jackets, gloves, and other gear that didn’t meet up to their advertisements of being comfy, wind or waterproof. I even returned a few pairs of boots that were just too thick to shift gears comfortably, gloves that had bad tips for touching the signals and horn, and a few that just didn’t break in well enough. I did keep the 1 liter Primus Fuel Bottle and the Nelson Rigg Trail End case that I have strapped to the license plate/turn signal mount and it came in handy on Monday when I got lost in the dark in the middle of nowhere with sporadic cell signal 40 miles from home. They cater to all types of riding and snowmobiling so if you have one close it’s definitely worth the trip.

In all I am definitely disappointed that parts are hard to find but I'm not pissed because I can still ride it! Just not on days warmer than 40°, in 6th gear, with the Cruise Control on, at speeds faster than 65mph!

In the meantime I'd love to hear how you picked up a used one already!! Did you get it cheap or assume a loan? Were they scared or disappointed with it?

Good luck with your bike and keep that odometer turning!

Maybe it's a foolish question but did you get your Owners Manual from the dealer? I still haven't found a proper service manual but I found this site that links from the Estonian CFMOTO page and has exploded views of everything with part numbers for all the models that they sell. The Sport model link is below. They only show for the models available in Estonie but it was great for me to get the part numbers for the windscreen, pannier mounts, and rear armrest, that only come on the Adventure model that's sold in France, Poland, Mexico and a few other European market but doesn't look to be coming to the US anytime soon.

There's not a lot of parts available but if you register with an email address they'll let you add parts to a wishlist and email you when anything becomes available.

Everything but the engine

The engine
https://cfmoto.motohobi.ee/product/2022-engine-283mu

This site has a proper service manual for the 600NK so at least that proves they exist.
https://www.motorcyclemanuals.info/motocycles-atvs/cfmoto/

This Lithuanian CFMOTO site also has some ATV service manuals in English and the Heritage and 650MT owner's manuals in Lithuanian so again, they exist. As time allows I'll try using Google Translate to send a request and offer to scan and return if they'd be willing to send me one in both English and Lithuanian. Or you could.
https://cfmoto.lt/instrukcijos-zinynai/

Something else that is REALLY F'ING FRUSTRATING is that official and dealer CFMOTO websites around the world are inconsistent in the name of this bike!! Some countries advertise as 700CLX, while others use 700CL-X, 700 CLX, 700 CL-X, CLX-700 CL-X 700 and so on. It creates a nightmare searching Google for anything, and youtube is only slightly better!

After I get my ECU replaced under warranty on Friday I plan to continue locating all the different worldwide official CFMOTO sites related to the CL-X and any that have related links to purchase parts. I'll post them as soon as I can.

I hope that helps bit.

Update: After reaching out to a couple dealers and asking one responded and I paid them about 20 bucks to print and ship a copy of the service manual (allegedly of course thanks to copyright  ;D). If you buy one of these and need a service manual ask a local dealer unofficially to print one off for you, they do in fact exist but CFMOTO doesn't sell to the bike owners for some reason.

As user `700CLX Heritage` mentioned, the regular owners manual can be found online at: https://cfmotousa.com/portals/0/cfmoto_700_clx_700_clx_sport_motorcycle_owners_manual.pdf

Is there an issue with the bike that you can't ride on warmer days? I actually have the heritage as well in the same color as yours (It's a 2022). I picked mine up from a dealership with only 440 miles on it, a decent amount of dirt on the underside near the rear tire, and some raised by spacers. From my own guestimation, someone picked it up thinking it was more off-road capable than it really is, hence the underside dirt which could only be there from off-roading and the raised handlebars for standing slightly in a more comfortable position.

I can ride it anytime but I just can't use the Cruise Control over 70mph in 6th gear. I'm coming off years of Harleys so it's been a little unnerving getting used to any gear over 5,500rpms. I don't need to hit the Thruway often so I either use the throttle in 6th like most of the people on the planet or set Cruise in 5th gear and grit my teeth at a little higher RPM.

I just installed the replacement Reverse Gear Indicator Sensor that's supposed to solve the problem on Sunday but we had a little snow and we're due for another 22"-26" today so it'll be a few days before the roads dry up and the salt/sand mix gets blown to the shoulders. I may be old and crazy but I'm not stupid.

Any chance you can share a photo of the bars? I’m not ready to give up being able to see the speedometer for a chin mount and since I only have one modular and one new but old school style of open face with a full shield, mounting on the side of either helmet won’t work.

I haven’t checked but the dealer said he thinks the stock mirror mounts fit into dimples on the bars to avoid travel from vibration, so I can’t claim that little bit of space wasted by poor design. I just ordered these mirror and super thin mounts to give me some additional usable real estate until I can find wider bars that won’t require longer clutch and brake cables or re-wiring everything just to add a few inches of mount space.

I also got these for the vertically mounted USB port under the seat to avoid stressing the cables and hopefully to reduce the WARNING MOISTURE DETECTED IN CHARGING PORT errors that show up randomly while charging my phone. Until that's resolved I'm powering the GoPro with a 30000mah power bank in my tank bag.

I'm not really looking to offroad but if you are and like me aren't too concerned about appearance, there's always this, in my humble opinion monstrocity uh interesting piece of hardware. They also have sliders and engine guards
