Z8 glove box
« on: July 14, 2015, 10:29:29 PM »
I really would like to add a glove box in my Z6. It looks like the box for a Z8 would fit. They share the same front plastics so I am guessing that it should work. They don't have it as a complete assembly so I would have to order all the parts and put it together. Total cost is about  $100 usd

Do the Z6's not have any kind of storage compartments in the cab?

Too broke to try it now. I looked into it and you would have to buy all the parts separate and put it together. Came to just over $100. Still not 100% sure if it would work, but it should.

Looks like the new z5 or 550 has a glove box. I have not been able to check the part numbers yet but it might be the same as well. I was on the fence about selling the SxS for a 2up but I will keep it for now. I think a glove box will be great and I will have to give it a try.

I found a used Z8 glove box on ebay. I think it's time to try to see if I can make this work. Just waiting on our friends in the north to ship it. I will do a how to if it works out.

Can never have too much storage. It'll make a nice addition.

If I can fit it up i'm going to use something to make it more water tight and add a usb power port in there for a safe place to charge the phone.

I put that foam/rubber seal with the sticky back around the "bead" inside and it stays water tight.

OK I have the glovebox now. And I have some questions. It's not going to be easy getting it to fit. The front looks the right shape but the back hits the firewall and  in a few other spots too. Heat gun and some shaping are called for.
Questions
1. Where does the rubber latch mount. Mine doesn't have one.
2. There are 3 studs with nuts on top. How does it mount. Even with a bracket, how do you bolt it in.
