Use the back pin for side to side alignment while cutting away to clear grab bar

I used thick alum sheet. Bent 1 1/2×5 1/2x8
Slot 1 1/2 side to mount to relay bracket using existing 6mm bolts. You will want some adjustment. Place bracket mostly left.

Loosely  mount bracket. Place box in position as close as you can. Use a marker to mark the position of the 3 studs on the box. Slot these from front to back.
Mark bracket in front to cut off level with dash.
If you are using the rubber strap, mount strap to bracket. I just used a clamp and bungie

Cosmosdan,

In your opinion would it be easier to just remove the grab bar and build a new one. I would really like to try to keep the glove box intact. I am not sure how narrow it is compared to the 800's, but am willing to cut the mounts and re-weld if it might help the install.

Well the glove box arrived. I started the endeavour today. And after deciding I didn't want to cut on the box I decided to remove the grab bar. I have some Handles in there for my passenger whenever they need to hang on to something. It went in pretty easy stayed in fully intact and sealed up nicely. I might think about doing a grab bar in the future. It would need to be out of a Z8. Here's some pics from now give me some feedback. Cosmosdan thanks for your tips.

To fit a Z8 bar would take a lot of work. The mounts would have be built, trying to make it adjustable in such a limited amount of space might be impossible. For now I am going to make some rubber plugs to cover the holes. If the wife really wants a grab bar I will tackle it then.

Well after riding last weekend the wife wanted me to find a way to put the grab bar back in the Z6. She liked the glove box but wanted the grab bar back.
I tried using the Z8 grab bar first. It was not going to work.
Then I attempted to use the Z6 bar and make it still adjustable. That was a NO as well.
I wound up using the Z6 bar. Measured the length I wanted and WELDED it to the cross bar under the dash.
It is no longer adjustable but it is rock solid.
Let me know what you all think.
