Z600 lift kit warning
« on: May 07, 2023, 02:45:00 AM »
Last year I was so proud if the 2" lift kit I has purchased/modified/made and put on the 600.  Well, come to find out the axels on the front end became permanently angled.  This resulted in breaking both boots and eventually separating the right knuckles, making a noise and bringing the problem to my attention.  A couple of new axels and a few months later I got around to getting everything put back together.  So, warning... lift kits on these units may put the axels in a position to accelerate wear/breakdown.

Yep..this is a known problem lifting any of the narrower machines. As I recall 34..or 36 degrees is the maximum angle for CV joints to run continuously and a 2" lift takes them well past that. The EXs get close..just not over the mark. They do wear faster though. Thanks for posting. Most people don't and others have to experience it like you did.

Yeah, that last pic I did my best to show the angles made once the lift got installed.  Being newish to the hobby I was unaware of the potential dangers.  I saw that it bent to accommodate and though all was well... when it totally wasn't.
