Clutch testing
« on: September 26, 2016, 12:21:05 AM »
Got a chance to test out the clutch settings on a 50 miles trip in the mountains. The trip was full of rolling hills and some fairly long inclines. The 600 did great. The C1 setting along with 23 g sliders is the trick for elevations above 7,000-10,500 ft. I used high gear most of the time. On a couple occasions I was in low, it pulled well in 2wd not bogging or lacking power. My top speed was around 44-46 mph. Now to check on my new air intake and CVT air mods to see if I kept the dust down to a minimum.
Will let you all know later in the week.

Great to hear. Not a lot of testing on the clutches on 600s in higher altitudes so this will help others. Now with the air intake getting cooler more dense air, it will even be better.

The clutch settings seem to be the right combo for all around trail riding at or above 8,000ft. On long hills 1/4 or longer on an approx. 30-40% grade high gear 2wd was more than enough, with power to spare. For those steeper hills 45-65% in LOW 2wd I was able to go faster than I needed to yet able to come to a complete stop and take off again with mucho power.  Very happy with the results. Rig is loaded with approx. 200lbs of gear and add on's ( ie. doors, bags, recovery gear and supplies) to include a 200lb + driver. The only thing I wish it had was nitrous for the long flat straight aways......LOL

They started turning earlier this week. We have had several cold fronts come through at night dropping the temps into the 20's up high. They should all be in full color by this weekend. It was great riding weather needing only a hoodie and light gloves. Going back up this weekend. Where at in New Mexico are you at? I was raised around Albuquerque. The military career ended with me in Colorado and I never left.
